Not disagreeing. If they caught me, my next ploy would be to play dumb truck driver.

But mentally, I would congratulate them for catching me.

So? Are you saying that your should have all the advantages, and none of the disadvantages? All the benefits, but none of the cost.

Fair is not the same as equal. If it was equal, the company driver would get all the profit, same as an O/O.

You already have all the real benefits of being an O/O. Flexibility, increased earning potential, the ride you want, the customers you select.

What would be the reason for you as an O/O to have your own set of HOS regulations? You could just as easily hire a mechanic (as mentioned). You could just as easily hire an accountant or a compliance company. Are you less subject to fatigue because you have less stress than a company driver? Interrupted fewer times during your 10 or your home time? Less financial worries?

I suppose we can change the old business adage to "starting a trucking company will cost twice as much, take twice as long, produce half the revenue you expected, and you are not the exception...."

I like the way you think....but I hope you see my point. I’m not looking for a pass.
I’m simply asking what others would do.

Here’s the key. I have 2 phones. One has the ELD app one not. If I need time I turn the Bluetooth connection off and stow the ELD app. Get out my paper log and make a note. Example ELD just removed it self from my phone called company no answer.

I had a 6 month inspection the trooper asked me about it and I have the paperwork to back it up. He’s response these ELD”s are a joke the government let anyone make an app. Perfect Score.

Have the paper. When I went back to ELD I simply made a note.

    Be Safe Out There

You don't think the laws benefit the megas more than small fleets and/or owner operators?

How exactly? Good grief they are the exact same rules for drivers and O/O.

No, not really. The law is the law is the law.

As a small guy, I can use the law to my advantage much easier than a mega ever could. I can react much faster to a customer need, add an axle, deep freeze reefer, handling consignee refusals, etc, etc, etc.

No, I'll never beat a mega at it's game, but they don't even know the game I'm playing.....

Left nut says 06driver is a mega fleet window licker..

Seems to be more of these yahoos in the O/O section than there are actual O/O here..

And you folks stay out of the rest of the forum? In general I stay out of your business discussions et al. But blatantly conversing about violating 395 on a public forum is
A: Ignorant because you are fueling Bart Durham, Morgan&Morgan, Whatever that idiot that has the Hammer billboards in Indiana name is.
B: A perfectly valid opportunity to highlight folks skirting 395 for monetary gain instead of commanding higher revenue.
C: Highlight the benefits of not owning a truck

Better pay, less headaches, better personality etc etc etc.
