Too late. The time to intervene in legal matters is BEFORE laws are enacted. If by some miracle we could stop new laws from being enacted from this day foreword, how can you survive in this climate? The chances of getting existing laws repealed is ZERO.
The next time you people roll your eyes at someone like me who tells you about a new proposal in Congress, maybe you could do something. How many of you know the phone number of your Representative? How many of you even know the name of your Representative?
Apathy is what got America into this depression, politicians are counting on apathy keeping most of you out of the process.

My friends and neighbors are amazed when I say " call our Representative his name is _____ his switchboard number in DC is ______"... How do you not know how to speak to your Congressman?

 

The highway bill and eld proposal that is in congress...........RAISE HELL!! We MUST MUST MUST be vocal advocates for ourselves!!!! Some say it does no good to call congress........what else CAN we do???


ELDs: As an independent one truck carrier I do not want or need to have the government knowing where I am every hour. They told us the toll tags would NEVER be used to track us......HAH they have been used over and over even in civil cases to establish presence. This is not about safety or saving money; it's SLAVERY. PUSH BACK.

The highway bill and tolls: NO NO NO............push back and HARD on this PLEASE.

 

I just heard the new Hi way bill explained on the Dave Nemo show by the COO of OOIDA.
God help us if it gets passed. It's called the Grow America Act. The Obama Admin. Is in favor of allowing states to toll existing interstates, set their own rates, all tolls will be electronic, AND the money will not have to go to the roads!!!! They are talking about paying drivers for demerge time, but guess what it does not include Owner Operaters. Mandatory OBR's. Everyone needs to call their State Reps. And let them know how you feel about this, and that if they vote for it, you will not vote for them. And there are enough of us to get their attention.

 

There's a little more to being a professional driver than the professional victim part, but thanks for the 20+ year old news.

 

I for one have my congressman and both senators on speed dial on my phone, and i burn up their e mail and phone lines so much so the aids know my phone # and answer the phone hello with my first name!. I'm not bashful i let i give them facts and my opinions and how it effects me. Remember they work for us not the other way around and i remind them of that fact regularly!!

 

They already know where you are if you own a cell phone.

 

Like casting your vote.....you may not get the results you hoped for, but it DOES afford you the right to xxxxx. If you don't call or don't vote, you have no right to complain because you did nothing to change the situation. Call, call and call again. They work for US.
