When JB HUnt won the contract for C&S I began seeing a lot of JB Hunt trucks with sleepers at grocery store parking lots I assumed they were having OTR drivers handle the loads until they got everything up and running (I have no idea if that was true, as I said I assumed).
Then I saw a lot of DCS day cabs here on Long Island with the occasional DCS sleeper at stores and on the road (as C&S trailers are pretty distinctive with the numbering)
The past few months I have seen more and more O/O and small fleets pulling C&S trailers, now I'd say 80% of the trucks I see in store lots on Long Island and on the road are O/O's or small fleets.
I'm interested in knowing what is going on with this contract? Can JB Hunt not find enough drivers for this account? Did JB Hunt decide to contract out all of these loads? Did the drivers working for Webster trucking just buy their own trucks figuring they'd make more money than working for JBH?
I'm more interested in knowing about O/O and small fleets working on this account? Do they contract on? Just pick loads from JBH's load board (although I just looked at their load board and nothing was listed in the areas where C&S has locations).? Is C&S contracting O/O's for any reason?
Does anyone know what these loads pay?
Thanks.![]()

I use to help them when they first won the C&S account with my sleeper and what happen is Jb hunt cut the pay based on what webster trucking use to pay the majority of webster driver i have talk to tried to go somewhere else, get their own truck, go back otr because they didn't like the pay package that Jb hunt offer now they start hiring more oop to do the load because some guys think the pay is not what they want and they pay oop a lot more better than company driver.

Any idea what they pay the O/O's?

I still talk to drivers and others that work out of the Hatfield MA location and JB cannot handle the work load so C&S is using a group called Coyote that has leased O/O's to get the loads out. Many of the drivers who worked there are gone due to the pay cuts and others have left to drive for Cowan who handles the work in Westfield MA. At this point JB should have had their act together but they aren't doing well. When you have 20 uncovered loads on a Friday morning I call that a huge failure on their part. They are trying to hire drivers but are pulling from the same pool that Westfield is and Cowan pays better. They are forced to hire drivers with little experience and then expect them to drive in NYC and not get hopelessly lost or hit something. I'm not sure how long they can keep going or how long C&S and it's customers can take it but they better change their ways or they won't last long in the C&S world.
