yes, it would be nice
especially if these brainwashed company drivers stop parroting the propaganda from their safety managers, they would be welcome members of the trucking industry
but right now, they are pawns, being used by the megas to create the divide and conquer demise, and you cant tell them any different

To close a thread because I stuck up for truckers on a trucking form is just plain STUPID and uncalled for. I made my statement to him and went to the topic
No companies don't run this industry and when drivers remember that we can start to rebuild this industry. with out the truck driver the freight don't move. Owner ops built this great thing money holders ruined it.
You see I DONT do this for the money. Even though I make great money that's not why I do it. You could give me 50 million dollars and ill take enough time off to restore my truck and finish the mods and id be right back out here trucking it up like nothing had changed. My problem and down fall in somes eyes is I cant stand for some one to degrade a group with no truth to back it.
Fact Mega companies have turned out to many wheel holders and not enough truck drivers
Fact Mega companies have brought out cheap rates with their willingness to haul freight at rates the do not even cover cost of the load
Now I am not saying that there are not real truckers at these mega companies. Not all swift, werner, jb hunt, UPS, FedEx, Overnight, and the list of ongoing mega companies. I have seen a meet drivers that can handle trucking. I am also not saying that just because your a company driver does not mean your any less of a driver. Just means you might not be fit to be and O/o which is not bad. It takes a different bread and lifestyle to be an O/o. Just like I am not meant to be a laywer or and data technician which I am cetified to do the data tech. but its not my breed, where this is. to many people see things that are miss lead and refeer to owner ops because god knows that elog and mega company cant do unsafe things with the computers all watching. To bad it does not understand we are people and not robots....We all make mistakes but because I am an Owner operator does not mean I am an outlaw. But if being safe and taking a nap instead of running 10 hours after I was up all night because my wife is in the hospital or your kid broke his leg makes me and outlaw than I guess I will add that to my resume and next app when ever that happens to be.dannythetrucker and landstar8891 Thank this. -

I think the biggest thing is, someone says company driver, and one of the mega carriers come to mind. And one of the biggest reasons guy go o/o is so they can say they are an o/o, because unless you have your own authority, you are not doing much better than a company driver with experience, and knows how to research for a good company. -
that speaks volumes of either your knowledge or your ignorance
i dont have my own authority, and for a company driver to make what i make, they would have to drive upwards of 5,000 miles per week
but i will let you explain your statement -
Please Explain this. -
Ok ok calm down some....don't want to get closed and have to start yet another thread....LMAO....Jb17 did you not read my last post...that would be the one prior to this one...lol where I clearly said that the are some great trucker drivers that drive company trucks and that not all drivers are meant to be owner ops. but never the less are great truck drivers who know and understand the industry. I know there are a few guys and gals I talk to here daily that drive company trucks. Yes Owner ops have a feeling of greatness in them. can you blame them. we buy build and drive are rigs to greatness.
Serious question Jb17 do you have an hobby. And please guys don't bash my question with stupid remarks or his response this is to make a great point to him.lilrich Thanks this. -
it is the "businessmen" who are destroying our industry and sucking all the profits....
Lets be carefull about business predators! the businessmen who are destroying our industry are called cronie capitalism! these are the ones hurting free enterprise, you are starting to used the language of the late Hugo Chavez of Venezuela and because of a couple of bad apples, the whole capitalistic system is viewed by the clueless as evil, inmoral, heartless, predatory of the poor! listen folks, i personally hate the word truck driver, trucker, wheel holder etc... when i bought my tractor, i was doing a business investment, im in the transportation business! what i did to improve my business? i felt that the fuel card that the company im leased to gave me, was not giving me nothing in return for the gallons of fuel that i was buying. I did my research and i found Marathon gas stations offer me a better deal per gallons and in rebates. Now by thinking and business planning, i started saving $140.00 a week, something that Florida port consolidated was not doing. Did some research and found a shop that has a rate of $60.00 an hour for service. Thats part of being a business man a doing some repaires yourself will save too! Now, company drivers, i remember the dispatchers that died of a heart attack. He put 30 years on this company and half as driver and the other as dispatch. Before he died, the week before he told me how low and discourage he was about the company he worked for 33 years. He said that in the 1980s, he made so much money in trucking as a driver that he bought 7 homes for rental. In the 1990s he lost them all. He still stayed with the company man mentality and now, he knew the company wanted to lay him off because he was making too much money. Thats when he told me that he felt that he threw his life away, giving this company his loyalty and now, they are waiting for the right time to get rid of him. The only thing that kept him there was one account that he knew very well. So company drivers, these were the words of somebody in this forum.......why am i going to drive a truck and make money to someone else when i can do it myself and get full rates for my service! thats all you need to hear and even today, i still see 25 to 30 years drivers with that company and almost all those guys have lost their house, their marriage due to $300.00 checks a week! They have been mentally indoctrinated that being a company driver for years has lots of benefits even though, they can't even buy new clothes.dannythetrucker and Container Hauler Thank this. -
There are some good companies to drive for. Now as for the labeling I am a Truck driver/owner Operator. I am not in the transportation business I am in the trucking industry. I can feel you on your choices of running your company. And yes finding savings is a great leason to be learned by many. Like my biggest cash saver even great than fuel savings is parts savings. I buy parts in bulk and on sale even when I don't need them but knowing I will down the road. I have one rig I run and others just for tax right offs....so all the parts go towars my daily rig while a few go to fixing up and improving the others for resale in 5 years.....
Driver of the year Thanks this. -
I used one example and stated this. HOWEVER, there are many others over the years.
I know a friend that drives for a company and he takes really good care of the truck. He tells me of the many at his company. I see them at the fuel stops.
I was a company driver several times. I always took care of my truck.
The clue to me was that my income was generated from the truck being moved down the road, not sitting broke down.ironpony Thanks this.
