In 1996 I went to Bike Week in Daytona with some friends and had a great time. I brought back one six pack of bike week beer just as a souvenir. I put it on the shelf in my garage and didn’t think much about it. 5 or 6 years later I noticed one can missing. At the time I had 5 acres of grass to cut and my bored 80 something year old Grandfather would come over and ride the John Deere and cut it. He always got one beer out of the fridge when he was done to “wash the dust down”. That particular day I guess I didn’t have any of my normal Budweiser in the fridge so he grabbed a warm 5 or 6 year old can beer and “washed the dust down”. I don’t think he really cared it was skunked on steroids, because it accomplished his goal. I still laugh occasionally while thinking about my Grandad drinking that beer.

The reason they have so many rovers out there is back when the Bakken was cranking they closed a handful of scales and put them in pickups to run around out east. Then the oilfield died so now they’re all over the state. Used to be somewhat rare to see them on the west side of the state.

They have to be nothing else makes sense. Matter of fact i got them kicked out of the town pump in rocker mt right down the hill from the scale there. They were posted up doing inspections in the parking lot, and i got fuel and parked then went inside to take a leak and asked for the manager, said there is dot cops doing inspections in your parking lot , i think u guys should kick them out and trespass them tell em to go back to their scale up on the hill.. didnt think they would actually do it but the manager said she would take care of it and walked outside right behind me and told them to leave or they will be trespassed. I about lost my #### laughing so hard.. score 1 for the good guys

There used to be a guy that would sit right past exit 96 going westbound , sit and wait for trucks to go over the hill , then "randomly choose one" get behind you then light you up right before the abandoned scale house there. What a racket. He got me twice in 1 week and i got a clean inspection both times and i have to say he was quite a respectful officer. One of the better ones i dealt with. Well a couple mornings later i needed to go that way and hed been sitting there for like 2 weeks now every morning so i took the exit and went a little north that road connected to the frontage road and went westbound down the frontage road and waved at him as i went by.. i #### you not i swear i saw him crack a smile as i rolled passed. Continued down the frontage road and got back on the interstate couple miles later, never saw him in the mirrors.. figured maybe he thought that was fair game :D rolled back thru a couple hours later going the other way and he had somebody pulled over in the usual spot.

The bad market is the case here, it's not about choice. Especially for the dry van drivers. A bad market caused by importing so many people illegally and giving them CDL'S.
