    That is absolutely wrong.
    The correct term is “recapture of depreciation”.
    The truck has more than likely been fully depreciated and therefore anything it sells for will be taxed.

    The last auction I went to...last year when it was hard to find a truck...I watched a couple of bidding wars. It got real ugly real fast. I was with a Mennonite friend of ours and I thought I was going to have to remind him that he was a pacifist. Bidding wars turn people into monsters.

    Here's a little shot across the bow at the naysayers and haters .in 2017 I bought a 2013 34k cascadia with 511k on the clock and went thru it stem to stern , I didn't beat it and kept it like new .
    When all was said and done I had 84k in it and paid it off in 4 years.
    I didn't go buy a boat or a Harley or a 100k pick up or a 200k pete or a 400k house ...instead I payed down debt and prepared for the storm that is upon us now ....I lived very modesty and that's why I can screw off now .
    I still live in a very modest in omaha and don't have expensive toys ...@runningman0661 can attest to that .
