Never had it happen intentionally... I did have a customer jump up on the step to talk to me and he grabbed the door handle to hang on. The door came open and he stumbled back. I let it go at that...

Mr Thumper will have a few knots if the idiot is not warned off. First off I don't know who the door man is and second we are about to have some problems. This is one time where I get into the Profanity and sometimes if necessary other types of language based on the person working the door knob. I don't mind the customer coming to say hello or whatever, but coming through that door? Now that... would be something else.

Part of the reason is the cargo in that box. In certain types of freight it's really expensive. Cheaper for me to knot a man on the head a few times than it is to cover the cost of the theft.

Been there done that, it wont be the first time.

I don't live in a high crime area, but I'm still required to keep my trailer padlocked at all times when running city stops.
I don't know how many times I've had a customer tell me the $ value of a single piece of freight that I'm delivering....
Usually it's in the thousands or tens of thousands.
I'd rather not know, but I think it's safe to assume that just about everything I'm carrying is worth some bucks.

Once I showed up at a customer with a large crate to deliver. I had no idea what the contents were until I hopped up into the trailer to move the crate back to the tail. As I was moving it, I noticed a large puncture hole in the side of the crate, probably caused by a forklift. I peeked inside and saw big game antlers... At that point my heart did jump a bit, worrying that an irreplaceable trophy had been damaged in shipping, and how the customer would react to it.
We got it down and opened the crate. It was a trophy bull elk mount, head and all. Turns out the customer had gone on an outfitted trophy game hunt out of state and paid thousands to take it.
Fortunately, there was no damage to the trophy, but I was a little scared at first. How do you do a freight claim on a priceless trophy that was taken during a once in a lifetime opportunity?
    Unbelievable...

I don't think I ever had anyone sneak up on me. I would always see them walking up and I would preemptively shut off the truck and open the door or stick my head out the window. Usually while thinking "oh great I wonder what bs I'm about to step in..."

I knocked him flat on his back, I was gonna kick the #### out of him for coming up on my truck like that but was running behind and had to bolt. God I don't miss delivering there lol. That whole town is a ####ing dump that you either have to be ready to fight or carry a weapon in. Another story about Norristown...When I was in a package car anything left in the cab would get stolen when you want in to deliver anywhere including my ####ing Gatorade. I got a dark blue Gatorade, drank about half of it, went in the back of the truck and topped it off with piss.....last thing ever stolen out of my truck lol. The car washers at night would also take anything you left in the truck so I left a few smokes in a pack in the cup holder that I wiped in my swamp ### after work....they were gone the next day lol... ####ing gross... somebody smoked ### sweat.

This is about the timeline I was in that area.... lovely place lol

In 2016 the city violent crime rate in Norristown was higher than the violent crime rate in Pennsylvania by 35.89% and the city property crime rate in Norristown was higher than the property crime rate in Pennsylvania but only by 3.01%.
