It's kind of a poorly written article.

DHL has had 777F's for a long time. This article really is about Singapore replacing their 747F's and using DHL (Aerologic) as the partner to help make it happen. Several other airlines are already flying this route utilizing 777F's.

FedEx generally flies the route from Singapore to the US through Osaka. I've done both of those legs, twice in the last month.

The production 777 freighter is a 77L, or a derivative of the 777-200LR. That means it has the -200 fuselage with the bigger -300 wing.

Now, as to the P2F part of the thread, I just dropped off a 777 in Singapore and we saw a lot of the work that was going on with ST. There was a 321 and a 737 going through P2F.

IAI (Israeli Aerospace Industries) is the one converting the 777-300ER P2F.

One thing to bear in mind is that DHL has many subsidiaries that fly on its behalf, many of them are in Europe, but some operate in Asia, the Middle East & Central America. They have a very diverse fleet portfolio, ranging from the Boeing 777F on down to the Cessna Cargomaster(freighter variant of the Caravan). Some operate under DHL’s livery or under the company’s own “house colors”(Southern Air had a “hybrid scheme” on one of their 777Fs at one point,as did Kalitta Air on one of the their 747s).

I know. Aerologic is the main purchaser of 777F. See them when I've picked up ours in Everett. Hong Kong Air flys the A300 in DHL colors, but not the 777. Here is a list of the DHL 777 operators: DHL Express has five B777-Fs in service with Kalitta Air, one with DHL Air, eight with Atlas Air, and twenty with its AeroLogic joint-venture.

Also, as you know, FedEx is the largest operator of the Caravan (no one outside of Cessna calls it Cargomaster, that name was taken by the Lockheed C-133) as well as the 777F.

Never heard anyone call a Triple Seven a Cargomaster. And the C-133 was actually built by Douglas-and that was actually called a widowmaker than it’s actual name!

    Commas mean everything. :p

Didn't mean to imply 777 was Cargomaster, meant to say FedEx is largest operator of 777F.

Funny thing about the Cargomaster is it was developed by FedEx with Cessna and it's called Caravan here.

And correct about Douglas. I'm partial to Lockheed on the C aircraft (130,141 and 5) so habit. I flew the C-141 for 9 years. Great airplane.

    Yep, another one we developed.

There is subtle difference. True Cargomaster aircraft are built without the side windows in the fuselage vs. Caravans/Grand Caravans.
My wife and I flew on a Grand Caravan 12 years ago on our honeymoon in Hawai’i between OGG and KOA,back when go!Mokulele was operating around the islands.
The ride was a little turbulent leaving Maui because some of the passengers wanted a closer view of the mountains (Haleakala in particular) on departure.

I knew better and I didn’t want a closer view.

Those fools didn’t realize how strong the trade winds blew around the islands!lol
