It seems to me there are a lot of rules that border on the ridiculous, and yet there isn't one that keeps a person from being a professional driver for more than one year after a DUI?

Isn't there even a rule that a driver can't even have alcohol in the truck? (not saying the OP was in his truck)

I guess that's me. Well, I'm not perfect. Far from it. Last week I ran out of gas. How humiliating is that? It's as humiliating and embarrassing as anything I've done as a driver. I'm supposed to know better than that. And maybe I have a bias because I don't drink. But drinking and driving and being a commercial driver, with all the training upon training and films upon films trying to DRILL into you that drinking and driving is not cool? God? God and morality? Is what you are doing could it be considered anything like a moral act?
You know how you get forgiveness? You go out and make up for something bad that you did by putting something good into the world that balances it out and more. You try and even out the scales to the good side. But this doesn't sound like that to me, but you are not talking to me anymore. You want to talk with somebody who has gone through drinking and driving so you know that you aren't the only commercial driver who has done something as stupid as that so it can make you feel a little better about what you did and how maybe it isn't such a big deal if other commercial drivers have done it. So good luck with that. I'll hand the mike over to them.
