Now I'm lost.
As for the original poster, I take that route heavy or empty the other way, the worstdown hill is a two lane with truck speed limit of 20 mph for a few miles coming down from a mountain.
I had a Mercedes and autoshift, and hardly touched the brakes weighing 70kplus coming out of Jersey near Camden. I like the route, it can be pretty at the right times of the year, and the Susquehanna River is along part of it. Its 15miles shorter than going to exit 161 and running down 99 to 322 and that route still has the hill up over those 7 mountains.
Redd always delivers. Have a good Holiday, Redd.

I wasn't referring to any directions.

I do better in person when it comes to helping people. Just today I helped a Landstar driver who had an air leak. Last week I tracked down an air leak for another Mercer truck (still have grease under my finger nails from that one). And also today I helped a 2 week driver with Swift shift his load to make his weight right.... All this on my own personal time! Why would I do that on my personal time? I obviously care.... I must! Cause I wasn't but an hour from home when I spent an hour with that Swift driver....
But then again, to some... I'm a Swift hater cause I don't have much positive to say about the population of their driver's.
Have a good Turkey Day. I here your weather tonight is suppose to turn to crap!MackDaddyMark Thanks this. -

I for one would not work for a company that would not pay the tolls up front. I know that being new to this industry is hard for all and this site is great for information.
REDD comes across a little rough but he usually means well. BTW- REDD if you are ever at the Pilot in Scranton PA I'll buy you a cup of coffee.
On another note, new guys need to know this before they send them out there. I for one don't have alot of money on my debit card to run northeast toll roads. I'd never make a paycheck and always play catch up with the card. If the company offers a route suggestion, I would take it. -
You will find that many company's will not pay for the PA pike from where 70 goes in and out of WV, to the state line north of Pittsburgh.
Also depending on where you are going to or coming from many company's will not pay for the pike from Breezewood west.
The per mile rate on that road is insane, and getting many shippers to pay for it is like pulling teeth.
So we go around. If coming from anywhere north of 70 it is easy to go around on 80 to 322.
If you are on 70 headed to places east of Carlisle it can be gone around on I-68, which is actually shorter by 15 miles, but most do not like it due to the Mountains, you will loose at least an hour on them.
But anyway on topic.
If a company runs a toll that costs them over 100 bucks, that they do not get paid for by the shipper, you will start loosing money fast. If there is no way around the shippers normally pay. If you have an option of a non toll road, then the shippers may not pay. -
So i took the 123xit, and the hills were'nt so bad. Just the town taffic made things a little interesting...and the oncoming headlights strained the eyes a bit.
You guys saved me $100! ty -
