Little late getting in on the thread but I'll second Josh's comment Magnum. My bridge motor used to drive me crazy always worried with the stupidly high temps and sluggish power. He made it right back in August and it took a huge load of stress off me in the process. Fuel mileage has already paid for the upgrade and it's always fun to drive. Anyways it sounds like you got the right plan for setting your motor up when you get the truck.

How, I've been told that t2000 are a pain in the rear to work on. How hard is it to work on this beast?

fuel, water, and oil filters are hidden within the frame.. I didn't know i even had a water/coolant filter until i went to do a lube job one weekend and saw it there. i had to ask my dad what it was. I have the pre-egr ISX and the water filter isn't cheap. parts department told me it was because it's an ISX, and that i could buy an adapter that would allow me to use the $15 filters instead of the cummins filter.

rear diff and trans are easy to get to for me. I'm a small guy, i jus jump down behind the sleeper between the fairing and cat walk and i can pretty much crawl anywhere. i can even kneel beside the tranny once i'm down there. you can get to the starter by turning the front wheels hard to the right.

everything except for two points can be lubed while on your knees. in order to put coolant in it you'll have to do a ninja move and bounce from the pass side step to the front tire (make sure you turn the wheel all the way to the left) and stand on the tire to fill er' up. Oil is a little tricky because the charged air intake pipe is kinda in the way if you just have a normal funnel.

if you need a jump, just pop the hood and there's two terminals on the driver side. need to replace a batt, well it's eight bolts to remove the steps and that one fairing. and for some reason there's two batt banks, with two batts a piece, but both banks go to the starter. it kinda threw me off cause my dads 94 t600 had two banks, two batts a piece, but two went to the starter and the other two were for accessories.

You might wanna look at MHC Kenworth. Usually lots of T2000s, in the $29-35K range.

mine was a 2008 and i didn't like how hard it was to get to the batteries, and the paint on mine chipped really easy and of course the paint only had a 1 year warranty, mine had a espar heater which was awesome i loved not having to idel the truck all the time, i had to upgrade the seats from the factory ones (not enough back support), there is not room for after market chain hangers so you will have to build your own if you need them, i had to have it aligned more often could of just been mine seemed to wear steer tires faster, the fairings are fairly low so you gotta watch speed bumps and rail crossings, i like the lots of room in the sleeper witha a longer bed, prewire for a fridge with a spot to put it, under bunk storage is great plus the hvac unit heats the or cools the bed as it blows thru the bed frame, the dash is very sturdy for being so big unlike the volvo's, the EGR system was a problem when running back east and down south where there isn't alot of hills and mountains, back here in the north west i didn't have any problems with it due to the hard pulls according to the dealer, mine had lockers in both axels which i could go anywhere and rarely had to chain up, it was hard to keep clean as the cap between the fairing's and cab and the roof cap and cab would trap dirt and it is almost impossible to get clean when washing it or having it washed, greasing the clutch linkage was a PIA as there was not a remote zerk so you had to be a contorsionist to get to the two zerks behink the battery box, there are a few good spots to mount your satelite radio antenna, their are not alot of "chicken" accessory's for this truck... thats all i can think of for now if you have any specific questions about it let me know:biggrin_2551:

How about working around and on the truck? problems? tight spots? filters - hard or easy to get to? engine work - easy or not so due to the engine positioning?

the spin on fuel filter was really easy to get to but the davco filter was rite above the battery box and was a pain to get to, the airfilter and oil filter were easy to change don't even have to go under the truck to do the oil filter, i ran an OPS1 on it and there was plenty of room to install, the belts were a little tricky due to the engine being so close to the radiator, coolant res is on the fire wall and easy to check a/c compontents were easy, all the wireing harnesses all over the place made it hard to check some things but the engine isn't as far under the dash as a columbia or even a 386, pulling the rocker cover was kind of a pain just a little tight
