Yes, it is real. Paccar has a class action suit in Federal Court. Several trucking companies are suing Paccar because allegedly they are selling engines that they KNOW are defective. They do not disclose these defects to prospective customers (like me) and in fact they LIE on a regular basis about cost per mile and maintenance issues. If you are considering buying a Paccar, read this complaint and beware. http://www.qulegal.com/15-08-28-17-PACCAR-Amended-Complaint.pdf

    Some highlights from the complaint.
"However, PACCAR’s promises did not materialize. Defendants omitted material information and/or made other materially false and misleading statements concerning the reliability, durability, endurance, and other characteristics of the Engines in the Vehicles, as well as about the warranty coverage and promises to repair the Vehicles. Instead, the Vehicles are defective, causing them to persistently be disabled and inoperable, among other problems."

Here is what I have been saying on this forum for six months -
" in spite of numerous attempts, the failures have not and CANNOT be corrected.

That was a quote from the lawsuit. The failure that they are talking about is the after treatment system. Paccar replaces defective parts with the exact same thing that they know WILL FAIL because they can not design a product that does not fail.

How is that a defective engine if it's in the after treatment?

That is irrelevant to this thread. This thread is about a lawsuit against Paccar.

The after treatment is causing engine failure... Its all in the lawsuit.

My issue with the lawsuit is it doesn't target anything, It just states the engines are bad. If you able to state, x harness or x modual is defective, it would work out alot better as you are pointing out specifics and parts could easily be checked to confirm they are continually failing.
