I was just looking at Kenworths website and notice they offer only the PX-6 and 8 series engines on their T170, T270, and T370 series trucks. Does anyone know about these engines and what make and model the engine is based off of? I might be in the market to buy and was compairing them to the Intl 4300 series.

They are eurpean DAF truck engines, PACCAR owns them, thats all i can tell you.

The Paccar MX Engine, which will be out in 2010, is based off the DAF engine.
The PX-8 and PX-6 are not. They are manufactured by Cummins. The PX-8 is based off the ISC Engine and the PX-6 is based off the ISB Engine. That is why you can get those serviced at either Peterbilt or Cummins dealerships. The PX-8 horsepower range is 240-330hp at 660-1000 lb-ft torque. The PX-6 horsepower range is 200-325hp at 520-750 lb-ft torque. Horsepower and torque ratings vary in the Peterbilt 330, 335, or 340.The Challenger Thanks this. -
Thank you very much. Any information is appreciated as I think a KW/Peterbilt is better than a International. Just my thoughts when it comes to those types of trucks.

I guess that's going to replace the CAT's after 2010 , Its gonna tough not to see that bright yellow paint under a extended hood KW/Pete after 2010.

I'm not familiar with the DAF engine. Is it presently in action only in Europe? Plans for any USA distributers other than Paccar?Last edited: Jun 22, 2008

The paccar MX engine is a 12.9 liter engine, 510hp and 1850lb-ft max power. They say 560hp down the road out of this engine. Im still not convinced.

I'd have to paint it yellow.
