My current ride is my first experience with the Paccar Engine. I haven't been in it long enough to judge it's reliability.
All I know at this point is that it has no power and it's so quiet that I constantly have to look at the toggle switch to make sure that the Jake Brake is on
when descending hills. The jakes are muffled and they don't seem to help a whole lot so I turn the manual engine fan on in conjunction with the Jakes.
The engine fan is LOUD lol.

Paccar engines are derived from their wholly owned subsidiary DAF in the Netherlands. Just like Volvo and Mack, the lack of service locations and qualified personnel is going to be a problem that is never going to go away. only time will tell how well they perform for the US market. They do discount the trucks they put them in if that is any indication of their popularity and quality...

Kw is giving an addition 2 year warranty now a days on them as well. I keep getting emails from paccar.. They know everyone must not want them if they offer the additional warranty

On the DAF predecessor to the Paccar we have experienced good reliability , performance and fuel consumption.
The electrics on the DAF have some issues but not of concern in North America.
Weak points on motor that if known and taken care of are not that bigger deal.
(1) Belt tensioner bearing needs replacing every 160 000 miles to keep them from failing.
(2) Engine oil cooler needs to be replaced every 300 000 miles to be safe.
(3) Compressor head carbons up on reed valves if you have any sort of leak so strip and clean at major service.
(4)Fit a good water trap filter on the diesel supply to avoid injector issues.
I have to add that this is my experience and it is with engines with out all the environmental add on's you guys have to live with.
Also in hot climate not the winter temperatures you guys deal with. -
Any one running the 500hp rating yet?

OK, this is how it is, diesel engine repair since, 1964, chassis, trailer. 90 days doing the MX 13. Have to use that DEF, unload for
3-4 hrs. at 900 RPM (PTO) Product blower. Before I leave, while getting paper worked signed. Engine fan on Manual, so engine
temp. ready for a shut down. Turn off ignition, DEF pump does a cycle. Can tell, DEF gauge moves left for a qt. or so. 3 gal. 700 mile. If I do not regen. ever 3 hrs, the boast pressure drops from 30 plus to 26 and lower.. Tare is 28000, loaded 73000. 10 spd. 65 MPH= at center of sweet spot.. empty=10 loaded 7. that is 6 better MT, 3 better loaded. Since this is my hobby now.
I do the gauges as if I am testing. Can not tell diff. with fan on or off. Possibly when ambient temp. was 110 during the afternoon. Fuel mileage down 1= 1 1/2. 10K only 1 qt of engine oil, oil taste good for 20 K. Farmer had to taste milk for contest. BAD BAD 7 types at college field day... ( left out the CAT C 13 PART FOR 2 years of testing, sorry about that.. -
ZJXander: YOU have right, also, have been driving steady for 10 years now. The large cube ###., all of them 330= 380 HP. I have
been waiting 10 YEARS FOR a engine fan that makes more noise than engine brake. The MX has it, (for sure down here in the desert). Sign says no engine brake, 17-18 00, watch boast gauge and tell if you are in the right gear. (right gear at 3 miles below
posted speed and 28 = 30 psi. dwn hill OH boy.. The cat c 13 engine brake was not satisfactory at all.
