Does anyone have any experience with the Paccar MX engines? A friend of mine is considering one in a new truck. I understand that they have been using them in the DAF trucks for some time. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Paccar MX or Cat C13 ?

Let the fleets figure them out first.

What he said, wait for them to get proven

I can tell you what they're like, crap! I garuntee you 500,000 miles is about their lifespan, I bought two brand new dafs in 2003, first one wore out in 230,000 kilometres, about 140,000 miles, the second 540,000 kms about 337,000 miles, they didn't blow up just completely worn out, I know some friends of mine are having similar problems with newer engines, they use more oil than diesel, there is Alot of failures too, dropping valves etc, I've never seen a pacaar engine make the million kilometre mark and I promise that's the truth! Stick with the cat, it's proven , also I'd like to say when these engines failed the dealer didn't want to know

I'd choose C13 but... I hate exaust filters!

Better than rebuilding an engine every 2- 3 years

I have (12) 2012 Petes with the C-13 with the 07' Emissions. Not to curse it, but we've had good luck with them. Make sure the software and the burn dome are up to date. These are the only issues we had but warranty covered them and our drivers commented on how well they ran after the updates. 200k miles, so far so good. Eaton super 10's if that makes a difference.
