Might want to try and find a few more of those to resell for profit. ####

EGR cooler is very common. They have an inspection cover and it’s worth periodically checking it. Why? Because when it starts leaking coolant and that makes its way onward, it really screws everything downstream. My DPF looked like a solid mass of concrete, when they split the canister.

    Injectors are another.

If you have the airbag front suspension with the “Z” leaf, they eat the bushings, because there are no shackles. It’s why the frontend of a Volvo is so harsh, compared to a multi-leaf front suspension; there’s no give in that setup.

Intercoolers are good for splitting. It’s something else that needs periodically checked. It’s simple to drill and tap a PVC cap for a air hose connection to charge it with pressure. Block the other end with another PVC cap.

The headlight housings go foggy way quicker than they should.

Random sensors, throughout the truck, would go bad.

Clutch servo. If you ever put a clutch in it, replace every single thing related to it.

    The plastic oil pan cracks.

Bunk heater core is good for cracking.

Keep good quality shocks on it.

I put ~400K miles on one and everything that happened was common across the other ~1700 Volvos in the fleet. There was other stuff, but, can’t remember it all.

Those are all excellent tips and I’ll keep an eye out for those, so thank you. But man to pinpoint on one you mentioned specifically, YES on the hard to get out of reverse! Like #### near 2 hands impossible sometimes. I thought it was just me. Also I thought I was nuts that my passenger tank was drawing more fuel than my driver. I just figured it was because that one’s a split tank with the hydraulic fluid, and I didn’t think too much of it. I’m gonna pay closer attention now.

Yup thats a big part of why im just going to fix what i have if i decide to stay driving after the 45mph speed limit mandate coming up. New ANYTHING is absolute garbage and basically doesnt work right from the factory but all the hipsters and gooberment officials are pusging this low budget chinese garbage down our throats whilw banning anything actully reliable.

If i stay in im ploinking a kitty in my 579 and am going to stay in this rig from here on out, if not im going to go work locally at a mine.

I had a 14 that had some of these problems. I know the injectors was an issue on the older ones.

Do you run any treatment in your fuel for the DPF issues? What is your spec on the trucks? What Engine and RAR? My understanding is a lot of people spec'd very bad for some of the problems you are stating with the emissions.

I do not have the air ride on front so good on that one.

Is the head light assembly the new style you are talking about? The old style just plan sucked and I had bought after market for the older truck.

Sensors can go out with any brand as they are just junk electronics so I get that.

I have never had any problems with the clutch,. Would guess this is from bad drivers but sure some bad parts.

Never have any problems with the Bunk heater core but I hardly use it. I do not idle the truck and only heat the front when driving.

Shocks are a must for sure but that goes with all trucks. I personally had great luck with my 2014.

My new one is a 23 and so I was really wondering for the newer ones to keep an eye on it. I do have the full warranty on it for 500K and plan on getting rid of it before then and run new truck all the time.

I am a little over 50K with mine. Knock on wood I have only had it in the shop for a missing Bolt, add EPU, Add Flow Below, Dr Preload, and PM service. I did fix the Clamps on the road as a service call because my dumb self forgot to get them like I told myself to. I replaced the other 2 right when I got back after the first two failed.
