I like my exhaust free-flowing and not filtered through 30 feet of EPA mandated crap anyways.

Me too and I would never buy one. On other hand, it keeps me very busy, family feed, and my skill set becomes more valuable all the time.

So if you knock out the dpf element with this “repair” from Paccar would the truck still run….?

It would idle, but check engine light/ shutdown light and full power derate. DPF delta P sensor would quickly detect the missing restriction in exhaust. All this is about is shortage of DEF tank UQS. Trucks without PM sensor would derate also. This is all EPA approved, hence why it has taken so long to approve. The sensors are about 9 month estimated back order.

Tree huggers are a bunch of hypocrites. Sure, some of the serious ones are all Prius'd up, but they're far more likely to be driving an SUV on their commute to work.

    Not just hypocrites, but idiots!

Have you looked at the tax scheme Oregon adopted to replace IFTA? The IFTA tax scheme was based on how much fuel you used, so it naturally penalized trucks that got low fuel mileage. The new scheme is just a tax on miles driven. So the average tax paid by high fuel economy trucks went up and the average tax paid by 5 mile per gallon trucks went down. How does that save a tree?

I wouldn’t exactly call OR’s weight mile tax a “new scheme”. I don’t know how long they’ve been doing it but it was that way when I started trucking in the late 90’s.
