I always bring a sleeping bag (until you get to the truck you will not know if your sheets will fit) , pillow, a bare min of 10 days of clothes, jacket, boots, (some winter gear), I sneak my radio and xm in my checked bag... Bring a couple books, pens, little ruler, calculator, clipboard, hat, work gloves, Mapbook, Truckstop guide book, 12 v battery charger for cell fone, extra towel, cold medicine (real expensive at the TS), pain relief pills, anti-acids...

If you are near orientation...bring some carpet squares for the sleeper, paper towels, nukeables, toliet paper :biggrin_25525:.

    Anyone else?

Pack light as you can. Sleeping bag/pillow and ONE suitcase (soft sides). I say this because you may have to switch trucks and that means lugging your stuff truck to truck or truck to motel to truck or truck to drivers lounge to motel to shop area to truck. You will regret having too much stuff to lug around. I can't tell you how many times over the years I've seen drivers "junk" piled up in the corner of the shop/drivers lounge/stairwell/parking lot while waiting for another truck to show up, then having to lug it to a motel overnight etc. Just think, at a bare minimum, you need to lug it to the bus depot, from the destination bus depot to the motel, (orientation) then you have to check out of the motel on the last day of orientation before you get a truck assignment, then possibly back to the motel because there are no trainers available that day. And everytime you leave it unattended, you are worried some fool might help himself. Just food for thought. :biggrin_2558:
