A good pair of coveralls, especially if your flatbedding.A good nylon gym bag is what I use for my road bag.You can pack 3 days worth of clothes and with all the pockets on the outside just about anything else you need. 2 blankets, 3 pillows and a quilt,I like to be comfortable in the bunk.Something for personal protection, a ball peen hammer next to your seat or drill a hole in it and put a leather shoe lace through the hole and hang it where you can reach it.I used to keep a machete under my mattress for when those unsavory characters come banging on your door in the middle of the night.I used to just show it to them and they'd run like hell. The DOT pretty much frowns on that last one, just like firearms. A good sized buck knife works well.I always bring a road box, which is just a big ### tool box with everything I need to fix anything anywhere, and a 20ton bottle jack.An air hose that will reach any tire on the rig, with all the tools you need to check and air tires.A plug kit, for times when you pick up nails and bolts in your tires. It's just a quick fix,but it will get you to the tire shop.A can of starting fluid and extra fuel filters,in case you or someone else runs out of fuel. That's about it.It sounds like a lot of gear but I've used every bit of it at one time or another and I'm like a boy scout, always prepared, for anything. And you never know when you'll run into another driver that needs help.
