Just had my first interview and have been requested to work in west ND and eastern Montana. Housing is being provided at a very low cost. What are some essentials besides warm clothing, a strong work ethic, and a heart of steel? I plan on driving my car the almost 2000 miles from California. How does your car hold up there? Thinking of taking the bus home on my 2 week off period to save wear on my personal vehicle. How frigid and hellish are the conditions? Ive seen a few threads on the oilfields but I would like more info up North-have a ton of info about Texas thanks to all of you![]()

One thing you will wanna bring is a safe, because from the hiring ads i see, you are going to be making a ton of money. If I had experience driving a tanker I would go that route too..
Congrats Driver
Beau Thanks this. -
Beau, just curious, shows you to have 0-1 year experience. How long have you been driving and how hard was it to get hired there. I've got all my endorsements but very little experience and thinking about applying. BTW, It's been a really mild winter up that way so far but count on it being as low as -20 at times with strongwinds = cold wind chills. By March it starts to warm up..a little. Good luck with the new job.

First of all, when winter sets in it is going to be colder than you ever imagined. Second I hope you know how to drive on icy roads, probably going to see alot of those. If it all works put for you,why would you waste several days taking a bus home, just fly out of Billings or Bismarck. Good Luck.

Something I take with me everywhere: A back up plan and an emergency plan. Never plan to fail, never fail to plan, and never panic when your plans fall apart and #### hits the fan.
Keep it tight. -

I'm from the northeast and have driven trucks in the ice and snow while throwing chains and getting stuck. The company is based out of Florida and owns many water trucks which is all I can say at this point. The grey dog is $110 if I book 21 days in advance which isn't bad.
