Drivers, lets put together a packing list for the student going out with a trainer. We don't want them to overpack. (neither will their trainer) We can start a list for the new solo driver also. These are some of the things. Please add to the list as you see fit.
Shower supplies. Shaving kit, toothbrush/toothpaste. Personal items you know you need. Flip-flops for showers, Small laundry bag for dirty clothes, small bag to carry clean clothes and shaving kit into truckstop, personal meds, Immodium AD, etc.
Sleeping Bag (easier to carry, can get linen, quilts, etc when you are solo) Small pillow. Alarm clock, clothes, laundry soap, boots, shoes, rain-gear, flashlight, Coat/jacket, gloves, (flatbed-coveralls)
briefcase, caculator, pens, ruler, small staple gun, whiteout, Good trucker atlas, truck stop directory, All your paperwork from school, SSN card, Birth cert, CDL, Med card, work history, reference addresses and TX #'s, cell phone (nice to have) Money to survive on (try to stay away from advancements) Bank account info, for direct deposit?

Don't forget that if the students are crossing into Canada, they will also need a PASSPORT as of Jan. 2007.

That might be true. I don't personally plan on EVER returning to Canada. Nothing against the people, but I just don't need the hassles anymore.

Thanks for the list. Can you tell me if bringing my laptop during my training run is a good idea? I like to stay online when out on the road

Your welcome! You want to pack light until you go solo, but there are things you need. Laptops are pretty handy. I never had one, but the thing I would worry about is when you are not in the truck. Like orientation and such. You need some place to stash it. They are hot items and tend to get up and move on their own.

Thanks for the list. I'd already thought of what I'd need, but there were several things you mentioned that I didn't include. I appreciate it!
Drac1985 Thanks this.
