Is there a certain amount of time you have to wait to drive after having been prescribed, or taken painkillers (with codeine)? If I remember correctly, you just have to get a note from your doctor explaining that you are not taking the pain meds anymore and that you are okay to drive. I will find out for sure when I call my company tomorrow. Of course, they may have their own policy also.
Painkillers, waiting period?

Each company will have their own list. Just because your doc says it is OK doesn't mean theirs will. All has to do with their insurance. They tell them what is allowed. Muscle relaxers used to not show up. Not sure if they do now or not. Pain pills will melt the cup though. -
I would think if the doctor releases you from work and meds that you are fine.

YA! I take Depacote, it's a PTSD me dfor the brain. I cant drive with it in my system which makes me ineligible cuz I take it 2 x a day. Gotta go , I'm smokin ribs the OKIE way.

Because regardless of being prescribed or not, you are putting your self at risk of Driving under the influence, and increased liability if something happened. -
I was wondering about DOT policy. Like with alcohol, I know you're supposed to not go on duty for a certain amount of hours after drinking. Though I don't know what it is.
It doesn't matter anyway now. I'm in the hospital and had surgery yesterday and could have another surgery this week. So I'm not going back to work anytime soon, if ever, in trucking anyway. It's all stomach related, Crohn's disease. -

I guess I just need to be patient and let the healing continue.
For those who might be worried about this being trucking related, it's not. They don't know what causes it and there's no cure. They think it's possibly hereditary. I'll post in the future on this in the Health Forum so I don't get this forum off-topic. -
Alot of us here know what it's like to be down and want to get ourselves back like ASAP!
Hang in there! and REST UP!
