I have used a homemade 4ft long 1/2 rebar with a welded on t-handle on one end and a barbed hook on the other. It will grab and push and pull chains and straps were you can’t get an arm or hand. Also good for the fithwheel release handle too.

Paint roller on a broom handle.

TripleSix and cgilliland Thank this.

I have a piece of green plastic coated wire I picked up at a John Deere facility. It's heavy duty enough to pull chains or straps, yet flexible enough to coil up and tuck in the sidebox.
cgilliland and kylefitzy Thank this. -
I used to carry a paint roller and handle to push/pull chain or strap, I also had a bent piece of rebar, or at another time a small diameter piece of galvanized conduit pipe that I used for pushing straps through spaces too narrow for the thicker paint roller.
TripleSix, cgilliland and Kyle G. Thank this. -
I use a pole made out of some 1/2 inch diameter metal conduit. I drilled a hole through it on one end and looped some wire through that. So it kinda resembles one of those dog catcher snares used by animal control.
And I got two 5-ft sections that screw together, to make it easier to stow.cgilliland Thanks this. -
I made a 4ft conduit handle with a sched40 pipe coupler welded to the end. Anything i welded a sch40 male nipple to became a tool insert for the conduit extension. Mostly i used a piece of 3/8 rod with a few inches of 90* bent end on it. Was in a junkpile.. Some kinda machine part. Just a long "L"
It was handy that i could choose between 4 and 8ft tools without having to store an 8fter.cgilliland Thanks this.
