PAM, GOOD or Bad?

You can try Prime, they will train you. I was laid off and got lucky and had unemployment (WIA) pay for me to go back to school but it was $4300. If I had to do it again I would definitely go through another training program.

 

Just another mill that will turn you out half ready to be on the road as a driver or traveler. Check with local /state employment programs. They all will pay for your training at community college or other schools they have agreements with. Just remember if it sounds to good to be true it is. These big companies could give a sheet about you or your training. Just want someone in seat to move cheap freight.. If that's the life you long for then go for it. If not slow down and do your research and get trained properly and for free or much less.

 

From what the Prime recruiter told me, you will be bused to Prime orientation, drug test, physical, yard training, cdl practice tests, etc etc, you will then go out with a trainer for a week or two with your CDL Permit, after you are done, they bring you back to go and take your driving test, if you pass, you get sent back out with a trainer for 3-4 months.

Routes I imagine are 48 states and canada, not sure about regional, tanker starting out, your out 2-3 weeks with 2-3 days hometime at least thats what the recruiter told me.

 

Tell me about it, I drove on the roads with a school trainer for only 3 days before I got my CDL, spent another week straight line backing and doing 45's. The rest of the time we sat on our butts watching the grass grow.

 

You may want to call and speak to there recruiter to get better information about going in as a student but yes they pay you for orientation and training. This is part of the email I received from the recruiter I spoke with; Over the road training with a Prime Trainer for 40,000 miles (roughly 120 days). For the first 5 weeks, you are guaranteed at least $500 a week. The remainder of the time, you are guaranteed $600 a week.

I believe you will have to sign a 1 year contract if you use them for your school training.

 

Some companies have there own training school, some send you to a CDL training mill. Most companies that say they will pay for your schooling will make you sign a contract, if you break it, they charge you the full tuition, just google C1 truck driving school or drivers solutions and look at all the negative sites. I wish I went online and researched it better before I jumped into C1. C1 Truck Driving Training is 100% pass, they dont fail you, you just stay on longer until you pass. If PAM and USA were your only options I would take USA.

 

See their C-1 trainers sitting all over Tarrant County smoking. LOL That's top notch training. Seen others at Hooters and the other place on Beach St that has the girls in tanks. Taking 3 hour lunch breaks. That's good way to get you ready for road.
