i'm curious what got you to narrowing down to those two...because they both start with P?

Prime was on my short list but Pam never got considered.

Now with some experience on the road I can tell you that I see way more prime trucks than i do Pam.

It basically comes down to Dry-Van vs. Reefer trailers, and Mileage. Pay not too worried about and Prime seems to be a little better but that's just me. Just wanted to keep my options open and if anyone recommends another company I would be happy to hear them out. I have my reasons for picking the two of them.

a couple of things that I considered and weighed in heavily on my final choice was what was their training like/conducted/cost, csa score, location to where "home" is, ability to get freight to get "home", and of course a lot of research here on these forums. I also looked through the company forums here and read a lot of what the other drivers were posting...look for more positive and less negative.

Best of luck. I had three companies on my short list, prime, roehl, and swift. I chose Roehl. I applied to and was accepted at all of them. I paid for my CDL training up front $3200 for 3 weeks in wisconsin and have received most of that back already. They will also finance it and pay it off for you in about a year. Swift is similar in how they train for your CDL, just not as nice of a place.

Prime is unique in it's training. They pay you but......you're on that team training truck for a longer period, thats what killed it for me. And be sure to equate the truck speed to the pay per mile.....the slower you go the more you should make per mile, but at the end of the day that can equal out with higher speed and less cents per mile.

There is a lot of prime out there running and they aren't gonna go away and you will get your pay check....

I was always scared of PAM. Their equipment doesn't look that good. Doesn't seem like i see many of them out on the road. Their training school advertisements always seemed fishy to me. I think they also have automatics.... Go with a stick, you will have more control of the truck.

About the only benefit to PAM is being able to park at the closest Central Transport terminal to your home. Prime would be OK if you didn't mind being the new Swift. Those meat loads do pay well.
