Panther is an expediting company and there is not much discussion on this forum about expediting.

Panther has no company drivers so you ether own a truck or van and run as an O/O for them or you drive for a company that is leased on to them. Panther does help drivers find a company that runs for them to work for but unless you own your own van or truck you do not work directly for Panther.

Most information on expediting on this forum is found at http://www.thetruckersreport.com/truckingindustryforum/expediter-and-hot-shot-trucking-forum/. Expediting Online (http://www.expeditersonline.com/forum/) has more information and its own sub-form for Panther at http://www.expeditersonline.com/forum/panther-expedited/.

Expediting companies do long hauls in their straight trucks but they almost always want teams to run them so that the truck can run almost 24 hours per day, it is expediting after all.

Almost all solo drivers for expediting are in vans, not straight trucks due to the nature of the industry but I do remember at least one poster on here who said he ran sole in a straight truck so you might find something. If I remember correctly I think he drove for a fleet owner leased onto Panther.

Panther does help drivers find a fleet owner to drive for so you could contact them and see if they can place you with one willing to let you drive a straight truck solo if that is what you are looking for but you are not likely to get many long runs running solo.

well I don't mind driving team.
me and my wife are looking at team operating and in the future becoming L/O O/O
but for now she will be a new recruit / student driver
I think it will be easier for her to learn how to drive in a straight truck or Hot Shot truck first before learning to drag a trailer around

You need to be careful with Panther. I drove a straight truck in team operations. You sit a lot till you find a load. Were talking a couple days sometimes. I sat outside of Houston for like 3 days waiting on a load. You also need to watch where you take loads to, because you may not be able to get out. States like Florida you will sit for a while till they find something. Also need to be careful for which fleet owner you drive for.
You take a bus up there which you pay for. Get a cab and hotel which you pay for. Like I said be careful.

    Yea
seen that a few times, I'm sure I couldn't work for a fleet owner. Personally I would rather go company at that point .
Unfortunately I am thinking that I will end up working for a student starter companys to the fact that my wife is a student /new recruit
just going to have make the best of the whole deal

just my 2 cents I worked exepited freight for about 10 years .. so I know a little about it when you get a load you have to get it there yesterday, they are paying big bucks so the customer wants it now, that being said,, also sitting for days waiting for your next load sucks also from jan1 through march or april are real slow times in hot freight most people starve then, so be very carefull ,, any company will get you freight but the sitting for days and not getting payed for it waiting on dispatch to find you something, they don't care your not making money sitting they want a truck to be ready at a moment notice is all they care about, you have been forwarned but hope you like sitting for days on end and then working at night when they find you a load after being up all day calling dispatch looking for work ,,
