I dont think I am above the rules. I just dont like them. They are not conducive to being productive and profitable as I want to be. I understand the consequences. I still choose to operate at my own pace. Has been working well for me so far.

Not since March of 2012 have I had a bad inspection. Not saying I cant or wont get caught,.. just that it would have to be a gross mistake on my part. Ask any lawyer. Its not what you know,.. its what you can prove.

Yeah, you do think you're above the rules. Just what we need. More supertruckers that think HOS regs don't apply to them. Just a FYI, but drivers like you are the reason why EOBRs will one day be mandated on all trucks.

    Super trucker?
I think you need to reevaluate your view point.

I havent had a ticket or accident, privately or commercially in almost 25 yrs. I originally started driving commercially back in the 80's.

Your entitled to your opinions. If you choose to limit yourself to the rules they set out for you then good for you. I personally dont like to be micro managed or have anyone babysitting me on a daily basis. If thats how you want to operate then thats your choice. I choose to be my own person and manage my affairs accordingly.

Yeah, you're a super trucker. Violating HOS regs on a regular basis is dumb, and boasting about it on a Internet forum is even dumber. You haven't had an accident or ticket due to luck, and that luck will run out sooner or later. Just because you haven't been caught doesn't mean it's the right way. It just means you haven't been caught.

BTW, HOS regs aren't about safety. Never have been. They aren't there to put a leash on the driver either. They are there to prevent employers and brokers from slave driving their deivers, but I'm willing to place a wager that you O/O's are too selfish to see anything pass your nose and don't realize how running outlaw hurts the industry for other drivers.

I too ran good when I was at the company hurst is at. Made good money, always rested because I slept when I needed it. Then the open appointments where the dispatcher would say on Monday you can deliver anytime up until Friday afternoon. Most cases I was passing by home I might stop for a while and see my wife and son and sometimes I ran straight there. Many random inspections and my log book always passed with flying colors.

I rather enjoyed my time there just had to go back dry van because the flatbed was taking its toll on my health. Wake up in the morning feeling like I slept on a bed of nails. But they definitely didn't force us to run the way we did.

Hey man, good to see you. Hope everything is going well for you.

They dont understand and believe we run until we are ready to pass out from exhaustion. I'm averaging between 2600 - 3600 mi per week, depending on how the runs fall within the pay period. Sometimes more,.. sometimes less. All depends on how hard I push or how lazy I feel. Nothing is forced on us. The only thing I am boasting about is that I enjoy the luxury of being able to run at my own pace, oh and the money. I hardly feel that makes me a super trucker.

If I gave this company bad inspection reports, had accidents, gave the brokers a bad attitude on the phone,.. then yes,.. I could see where I would be contributing to the ATA charging forward with EOBR being forced into all trucks and companies. How ever,.. fact is that on paper I am as professional as the best of you out there.

Envy? Jealousy? Hate? Anger? Complacency? Do your own thing and do what you feel is best for you as a driver and a person. I never once condoned running outlaw. I believe that when DOT see loose leaf log sheets, they know what I do. They try to dig deeper when drivers like me come along. I try to be as friendly and cooperative as possible during every inspection. They are just doing their job. I cant hate them for that. My wife is former law enforcement, so I know what their life is like. But as long as I am able, I will work as hard as I can. If you guys have a problem with that then there really is nothing I can say anymore to change your perspective. So I will leave this thread to finish out how ever you guys want to argue it out.
