So I’m on my very first load which was a repower down the street from company HQ and our Qualcomm’s went down as soon as I hooked up. Can’t get a hold of anyone to ask what to do, but I talked to another driver who’s having same problem and said we have to go to paper logs.
My question is since I’ve been at the yard for the past 7 days doing grad classes etc how do I fill that out on logs. I drove 3 miles yesterday just to get to truck stop and repower. Do I need to fill out a sheet for each of the past seven days even though it was all off duty??
Thanks in advance for any help!

There's a nationwide Omnitracs outage right now with no ETA for resumption of service. My company told me they can't see recap hours so I'll be running illegal since I can't fill out the paper logs completely, but I'm not sitting.
-
Yeah, and I don’t want to sit either but since this is my first load I don’t want to start driving without proper paper logs either. So no idea what I’m supposed to do.
-
All you do is fill out for today. Continue until Qualcomm comes back up.
Drop paper logs then. Even partly filled out. Doesn't matter. Just covering yourself for right now.
DOT is just fine with this. Just cover yourself for right now. Don't worry about past 7 days. It's in the Qualcomm.Lepton1 Thanks this. -
When your Qualcomm comes back up. Put a note in there that you had to cover with paper logs from this time to this time.
DOT is very down to earth and comprehensive. They ain't no FMCSA. -
Okay I’ll do that. But when you say it’s the Qualcomm when click on my 8 day report it has dates from March 2000.
So you’re saying I just need to fill out one paper log for today and DOT would be good with that? -
I had a feeling this would happen with ELD's. With all the fancy doo-dads today, you have to go back to something from 70 years ago. I can sense the urgency in the posters comment. As silly as this sounds, I know we should try and help, I have no idea about Qualcom, but a boss would say, ok, get a paper log book, on yesterdays page, put off duty and go back 7 day numbers at the bottom, today, go off duty to about what time it is, draw a line down to on duty not driving for trip inspection, a line up to driving and get going. This is a nightmare that is only going to get worse. Good luck with the future of trucking all.

Don't worry about writing down last 7 days on logs etc.
DOT ain't out there looking to 'get you'. They're actually on your side. Don't want to write you for a violation if they don't have to.201, Kahlo_house and FlaSwampRat Thank this. -
Alright will do, Thanks for all the help.

Just to give you understanding....
The paper log is in case you're pulled over or have to go into a Port of Entry and show logs. It is to cover you for what you are doing right now. Want 7 days? Heck... DOT knows if technical difficulties with logs can't show 7 days. They ain't gonna write you for a violation because of technical difficulties with elogs. At worst... they might require you to send them your elogs when your qualcomm gets back up. And yes.... they have a long arm...you can't get away. But they aren't out to get you.
And remember to put a note in your elogs when you get back up.FlaSwampRat Thanks this.
