Some of the drivers are running paperless logs. The change is happening now. As far as refer goes I only know what some of my students have reported back to me, and it sounds like the rest of the fleet, sometimes you are preplaned and sometimes you have to wait. The biggest problem I keep hearing is getting to the shipper and the load is not ready, and they have to wait. That could happen no matter what type of trailer you pull. Good luck.

a recruiter was just at my CDL mill the other day and he said they are rolling out a new Sat system to replace Qualcom. They are going with system called Trucker PC and the new systems will have document scanning, elogs, satallite navigation and a bunch of other things he mentioned that I forget. It sounds like a great system.

I have an offer of employment from Roehl and hope to start on early March on the 14/7 reefer division, so who knows how long it will be before I see new equipment.

I was told today that Feb. 28th and mar. 7th orientation in Atlanta were full. I'm doing my DOT Physical exam tomorrow and this is my last week of cdl school. Will have the big test on Fri. the 25th.
I hate having to wait so long for orientation. I may check on other locations. The email from Roehl did say orientation pay was $600 for up to 9 days (phase I), lodging, 2 meals per day were covered and some reimbursement for other covered expenses.
(phase II)Is with a trainer for 13 days and paid $90 per day.
Reefer pays .32 to start, and may be getting more miles. looks like the route i'm going. Dry van pays .30.
And she ask if i had already made plans for vacation or if their were any days off I needed in the near future.
Will that be smoking or non-smoking?

The System is replacing the old style qualcoms is all. Its using the new MCP200 Qualcoms and using the Truck PC's already in place in many trucks from yrs ago.

Yep...But,.... only thing they are using is the elogs.... everything else is turned off.. even in my truck and I'm a L/O.... who knows when the crackpot I.T. Dept. will figure it out. ( I say this cause thats the worst downside i see with Roehl is they are so far behind the curve in tech. its not even funny)

Roehl all in all is a Good Company, Just like anywhere else got things you have to learn or decide if you can deal with... As far as New Equipment. they bought about 50 new trucks different models to see what works best for them.... they haven't bought new Trucks since '07 .... Wish you the best. You could do alot worse for sure. lol

Mark, your figures are what are on the Roehl web site and I had heard on this site that some orientation locations were going to a new program paying the new figures that were in my email and my earlier post.

So when I talked to Cheryl I ask her about the new figures and she confirmed what I had heard. I had ask her about Ellenwood but she said she was not sure. That was about a week ago.
Now I get the figures of $600 and $90 in the email with a conditional employment offer letter from Roehl.

The email also talked about Phase 1 and Phase 2, nothing about Evol I, II, or III.

Here are some of the specific items we discussed about the position you applied for:
You've indicated that you would like to career path into the Refrigerated division. You will need to successfully
complete our Safety and Job Skills Training program. Phase 1, will last up to 9 days. Upon hire, you will be paid
a $600 hire bonus, split in two $300 payments. Phase 2, the Over-the-Road Training will be performance based
and last up to 13 days. You will be paid $90 a day for each day you work with a trainer.

On the first day, you will:
    - Phase 1 of Safety and Job Skills Training will be 9 days.
    - You've indicated you are a smoker.

Prior to Qualification day you need to complete a pre-employment physical exam. A representative from Comp
Care Partners will be contacting you within 24 hours to schedule your pre-employment physical. You must
complete your pre-employment physical and the physician must medically qualify you and notify Roehl before
you can come on your scheduled date. (You will not need to pay for this physical and you will not need to do a
Drug Screen - this will be done on Qualification day.)
    - Your start date for Safety and Job Skills Training Phase 1 will be selected after your pre-employment
    physical has been approved.
    - If for any reason, you are unable to make it to Training, please call us as soon as you can so we don't
hold an open position in the class for you.
    - You will begin your Safety and Job Skills Training, Phase 1, at Roehl's designated training facility.
    - We'll administer a CDL-style driving test and a written exam during Phase 1 of Training and prior to
beginning Phase 2, the Over-The-Road Training.
    - Upon hire, you will be paid a $600 hire bonus, split in two payments.

    - Roehl will provide travel to our designated training facility, lodging and meals (lunch and dinner) for
    Phase 1 Training days.
    - We'll reimburse you for approved travel expenses at the time of your first dispatch, provided you present
    receipts for all approved expenditures.
