I agree with all those slamming this little punk!!! Reminds me of when I was at the fuel desk at the Loves, Rt. 83, in Ohio. I had already paid for my fill-up, used the rest room and was milling about the door waiting for the blue KW to leave so I could. The girl behind the desk asked if she could me with something. I replied very calmly "no, I'm just waiting to leave." She asks which truck was blocking me and then gets on the intercom and asks for the driver of the blue KW in fuel lane 5 to please move your truck. Sure enough, after a minute or two, a young driver wearing flip flops comes walking out of the restaurant. As it turns out, me not knowing at the time , the driver I walked nearly side by side on the way back to my truck was the driver of said KW. He sees me get in my truck. Waits a minute or two then eventually pulls out. I am behind him as we get onto Rt. 71 North. So what does he do? He stops on the side on the entrance ramp and flips me off as I go bye. I jumped on the radio directing a few choice words to Mr. flip flops. Guess he had his radio off...not a peep. Said punk flip flopper had his chance earlier...I was only 5 feet away from him at the truck stop and trapped right behind him in the fuel lane.. Nope, he waits to when we were rolling from the shelter of his truck to flip me off. I think though it was healthier for him to do what he did. I don't think he would have had a good day had he been braver.

There is NO POSSIBLE defense for this driver! Now possibly, (but not likely,) someone might come up with a legitimate defense for him "creating a parking spot," UNLESS he is blocking the fuel island. But there is no possible defense for him pulling his BS of filming himself giving the employee a hard time.

He has shown the world just how stupid and ignorant, self centered and arrogant, he is. How in the world can anyone try to defend those actions?

I am sorry but you are wrong and the LAST thing this loser needs is someone making excuses for him. He should have managed his available hours. Period. Also, on the elogs I have seen, you can drive over a half mile before they kick you into driving status. That, however, is irrelevant.

How about you plan ahead so you are not in this situation. It is the drivers fault, nobody elses, if he violates hos regs.

Last night took a load and it seemed lime I would have the time.. well, got neld up at the terminal, then stuck behind a slow truck on a two lane.. after I did my stop and dropped my trailer I was low low low on HOS... bobtakled to the nearest truckstop and figjred being Bobtail I should be fine and able to get parked. Rolled j to the truck stop witn only 7 minutes left on my 14... and the lot was full and manh drivers had already made spots wherever theh could..
Well, I spotted a place at the end of the bobtail parking that I could grab and parallel park.. so I did... but a truck leaves the fuel island and I realize that my being parked there is gonna make it tight, very tight for the end pumps.. so, I move, rolling througn the lot slowly as not to trip the qualcomm to switch me to drive.. I looked and loomed and there was nothing..
So, I figured I was screwed.. as I was stopped and trying to figure out what I am gonna do.. I saw a driver get I to his bobtail that was parked wah back with room in fro t for me.. so, I asked if if I cojld park there and when he was deay to roll wake me up and I will get out of his way..

Well.. he not only said yes, be actually moved his truck out and let me take the back cause he was leaving hours before my 10 hours wojld be up.. and so I could just sleep...

Well another bobtail came in and parked at the end like I had.. and a truck leaving o e of the pumps at the end had a heck of a time getting out.. cause the bobtail was in the way.. and the driver of the bobtail was in the driver seat, but didnt care.. and just went in his bunk knowing he was making it very tignt and difficul for trucks leaving he pumps...

That is just wrong.. as I said, I have been in a jam with no hours.. not even minutes of HOS.. but, it is my problem to deal with.. and it is just wrong to knowingly be in tne way and make drkvers have to maneuver around me.. not my sthle.. And as jn my case, I moved and did tne right thing and ended up being legally parked and not kn the way...

If the bozo really thought it was illegal to wake a sleeping driver, do you actually believe has a firm grasp on any other regs?

Both sides are a little 'holier than thou' in their argument. Trip-planning works, but there's always a 'last spot' at a truck stop. Whose to say you trip-planned to get it, or watch the guy in front of you get it. After that, it's on to the next one. Most loads move at a brisk enough pace that you have to run your clock out or near out. You can't start trying to shut down two hours before you're out to make sure you get a spot.

True, once you start driving, you know where to park, even late at night. This guy's problem was trying to pull this crap at a Loves that probably has little parking to begin with. Park at a no-name place. Much better likelihood of finding a spot, even late. A few nights ago I shut down at 2am at South of the Border (that neon monstrocity on I-95). Why? Because I knew it'd be guaranteed parking regardless the hour.

But then again, maybe this was the only place he could afford a meal with his 'points card'...
