Four hours and still not finished. I finally turned the motor off for the night. This is the first time I have gotten the dash indicator to perform a parked regen since I bought this truck in March. How long does a regen take and when does the ECM know its time to turn it off?

Sound's like you have a bad sensor. Perhaps, it is still having a pressure problem, OR it's not getting hot enough to burn and it is continuing to try to burn. You may have to start looking for a Cummin's dealer to find out before you get stuck on the side of the road.

A regen (parked or not) should take no longer than 45 minutes-

This sounds very similar to what mine did. During regeneration, check the exhaust temp- it should be around 1000-1100 degrees. If it's not... your not getting a complete burn- per mechanic at Cummins. When my truck was having issues, the pyrometer was showing only 700-750 and it would take hours for a regen. We found the 7th injector housing was completely plugged. There was no fuel going to DPF for a proper regen. Cleaned the injector and housing- truck runs and regen's like new. This was at 123,000 miles on a 2013 ISX.

    Here's a picture-

Hope this helps you- Good luck.

Yep, like freight shaker, it sounds like your doser injector needs cleaning. This is actually a scheduled maintenance item as per Cummins. Your regen should have never lasted more than 2.5 hours MAX. If it did last more than that something else is wrong. 45 mins is normal, like FS said. Cummins releases software updates for their engines all the time to improve operation and reliability of the engine and after treatment systems. If you haven't had the ECM software calibration updated for a while you should have that checked along with the doser cleaning.
