just a quick question to you all out there in millis land. Since they do not have a yard out here by Gary In, they said that you take the truck home with you on your hometime. What if you have a trailer with it? Iam pretty sure that my drive is close to the needed size for the tractor but dont know if the neighborhood would allow a full rig on the street. I have a t/a and a pilot by me and there is also cabelas store where i see ups has trailers and such.. Was wondering do the truck stops allow you to park there for 3-4 days? and do the charge? If not any suggestions on what to do with a tractor and trailor in this situation?? Espcially concerned with security also. If it ws just a bobtail it would be no problem only problem is i do not know how they would feel bobtailing all the time to get home time.. any suggestions or comments would be helpful! thanks alot!!
start mti on the 9th of march....

I saw a post by one of the Millis drivers (Maybe spanky, or srick), he said that when he has a load on his hometime he leaves the truck and trailer at a local gas station, and gets picked up by a familiy member. When there is no load and the trailer is mt he just drops the trailer and takes the truck home. So it sounds like its up to you to find a place to leave the equipment during your hometime. Also sounded like Millis is pretty flexible as long as it is a secure location.

I'm not sure but I think some truck stops charge for parking extended periods.

When I drove for them I parked at a T/A. Just get ahold of the manager there and get auth. from him then let safety know where you are parking for your hometime.

When you go home you will have a trailer since you dont live close to a terminal. I dont believe that ta allows dropped trailers there but the pilot usually will let you leave one at them just need to ask. If not i would look around and find where other trucks are parked and see if you can park where they are.

thanks spanky, i am just a little confused, there is a pilot and a t/a right down the street from me, but not in the best of neighborhoods, and there is a cabela's store by me that has ups and other trucks sitting there so I might check them out, there is also a small pilot by that store which only has like 10 or 15 spots might check into them too..
I appreciate the help, any and all info from the mundane to the extremely important will help. Took my cdl permit tests yesterday and passed with flying colors, so I am now an official permit carrier...lol looking forward to the 9th of march, and more importantly, hitting the road and making money you know being a productive member of society,,,,

Best thing to do is ask for permission. park the truck in a parking spot and go inside, and ask the manager. If they say yes then drop the trailer where they say to and go home. Since the truck stops are close to the house if they don't allow droped trailers then ask if you can park the whole rig for 3 to 5 days. that should't be to much of a problem if you park close to the back of the lot, then have someone pick you up. Now if you do drop the trailer and bobtail home, then buy a kingpin lock and a glad hand lock, and if they send you home with a load and not an empty trailer, then a good padlock on the door to. hope that helps.

    Hey driver.
It is going to be about 2 mos before I have to worry about it, but where are good parking in Augusta area? I actually live in Wrens area and asked Citgo at Bath Edie Road and they are $1 per night and alot of trucks park in Wrens in Ingles parking in back/side. I can bobtail home but trailer space is the question.

Hey Bible, you could always do what I do. I live near Augusta, in Thomson. I have a car that I drive to Cartersville and leave it there. When I go home I just park the truck in the lot and drive my car home.

That is a very good solution.....but I am slightly manic and would hate to drive three hours to Cartersville for a load that might "backtrack" me passed my house. LOL
