- Where are the good spots for nightly parking?
- What time do I need to get into KC to get a spot?
- Are there any good places for monthly parking?

1 Not that I've found.
2 4pm.
3 No idea. -
There used to be a little truckstop north of the KC Beltway area, that's been out of business for decades. It was my home base there. The place was not the best as far as threat levels etc.
My last night there in trucking involved a parasite coming to my counter at 10 PM sticks his filthy finger into my food.
That was the end of my dinner, manager saw it. Called the law. Arrested him and replaced my food and tore up the bill. he did good the manager and the law. Especially when I was evaluating parasite for application of violence. he picked the wrong person that night. Manager told me to just hold steady and not do anything for my sake.austinmike Thanks this. -
1 Very little to none
2 3 PM
3 not close in, Few miles out on the MO side will be better. -
Or do you just want to take a 10 or 34 hour break there occasionally? -
Interesting this thread comes up now... Just yesterday I *reluctantly* stopped at the J on Front Street (y'all know the one) to fuel, shower & do my 30 (it was either that or the Love's up in St. Joe...memories of that place from my last OTR rodeo four years ago (to say nothing of KC in general... people shooting off the freeways, launching random rocks at trucks, etc) still rang fresh. Well I'm happy to say I didn't encounter any stray bullets or rocks--but that J is every bit as tore up as I remembered. And apparently "that pole" (again, y'all know the one) is still taking trucks out (saw it get one yesterday). All that did was remind me of why I told myself never to stop there again four years back. Time for me to heed my own words again!
I did not know there were two other Pilots in KC until yesterday...one the next exit up from Front Street, and the other over on the west side of 435 (coincidentally enough, also on Front Street). Both of them are small though, maybe 10-20 slots.
I half-remember an industrial park over on the Kansas side somewhere near 635...anyone know anything about that or am I misremembering?
(As it happens, my current load is headed to KC...aye caramba.)austinmike Thanks this. -
Petro in Oak Grove isn't too bad.
As for parking in KC you are pretty limited. The Flying J is small and usually has its share of under achievers roaming the lot looking for hand outs.
I'd just park outside town if it were me.stwik and austinmike Thank this. -
I always liked the Ameristar, an 18 screen movie theater, a sports bar, a Buffett and a Burger King and the casino was funner than that J.DTP Thanks this. -
