Drivers park where they want, Tehachapi proves it. The Loves is now open, the streets east of the Love's are legal parking, because they are in the City of Monolith, not Tehachapi. Driver are still parking on the highway and off ramps. right in front of the Emergency Only signs, and still getting really expensive parking tickets. So driver park where they want, thats the deal, even with freshly paved streets for them to use.

Most of the states I have traveled through have signs on entrance and exit ramps that say no parking ... and some drivers park right next to them ...

Especially at the Maryland Welcome Center ...

    Laurel, MD (Howard County)

    I-95

between exits 38 and 35 Southbound

between exits 35 and 38 Northbound

    rest stops in Maryland ...

Ignorance of the law is irrelevant. Parking is not running a red light and writing a ticket like you did so when you were actually parked is a lie. Tickets go to court. Lying is court is a crime. Criminals are stealing our money. Highway robbery is alive and well in our glorious "civilization."

Your right, its not the same as running a red light, but is still classed the same because "failure to obey a traffic control device" can bring alot of things under its umbrella. So if a cop came into court and said I wrote him up for failure to obey, he would not be lying.

p.s. I've always known them as Pick-a-Part, maybe I stand corrected

I have in a real pinch always on the get on ramp but the states have realized its a money maker i think bothering a driver trying to get rest is dangerous to the public

The other drivers are correct, It is illegal to park on ramps in most states. I have also had to do it on rare occasions. It is not an ideal situation, ie, The drunk or drowsy driver hitting you. it is very hard to find sufficient parking in the eastern half of the country, as you work your way West you start finding more truck parking area's. Wyoming and Nebraska have exits set up just for truck parking, It is a get on get of ramp setup with a large paved area with no facilities, but you are able to park at least 50-60 trucks on them. it would be nice just to have something like that on the East side of the country.

Mississippi has a few of those on I-20... do not park there... they are DOT traps. You will wake up to an inspection.

If they are drowsy, they can pull up behind me or in front of me and take a nap because if they knew their limits, they shouldn't be driving anyway. If they are drunk and hit me......well the way I look at it, that should be their problem not mine. If your parked clear of the line, not littering, and keeping to yourself, parking a truck on the get on ramp is not hurting anything. I won't listen to anybody that says otherwise. Sure I'll move if a cop tells me too, but he's gonna have to tell me that the next night, and the next night, and the next night, until he throws my ### in jail.....oh no not jail.. been there, done that. Don't bow down to them......Screw them.

Haha, when I first started out back in the 90's I was in a freightliner and parked on an on ramp shoulder. I was so tired.....Couldn't find a spot after trying 2-3 different truck stops. I parked on ramp with about a 1/4 tank of fuel left. It all drained to the tank on the non-sucking side and I woke up freezing my butt off wondering why my truck wont start lol. Dispatchers had a good laugh and I learned a lesson!
