on a few occasions I have had my sleeper berth time interupted because I have been asked to move my truck. My Safety dept. told me that there is no HOS exemption that can be used and that I have to log on duty driving on my way to the new parking area. This of course extends my time in the sleeper berth.
Does anyone have any experience in this situation? How was it handled?

If you're on elogs and has to drive a few miles to find a spot then you don't have a choice,it'll put you on line 4.But only a few hundred feet I wouldn't even touch it and drive slow because otherwise your speed will trigged the elogs.I was in Varginia at a Weigh station but it was closed so I parked on the side there because my 14 was almost done and that was the closest place due to the traffic jaAn officer stops and told me I couldn't park there so I followed him a few miles to an exits with a kum and go he blocked the road and I backed in there..I left myself on line 2 and it never went off.

Most companies allow a truck to be moved less then a 1/4 mile without moving from off duty or sleeper into driving if driven slowly. Also, most will allow a "driving-off duty" ("line 5") option that allows you to leave a location with no facilities or dining options to drive to these as if your had "hired a cab".
If all drivers who used these work-arounds STOPPED using these work-arounds, we could essentially shut the nation down by simply following the HOS laws to the letter. Think about how many thousands of 10 hour breaks are completed each and every night where in fact the driver had to get up in the middle of the break to get a door and check in then resume his sleep. If all these breaks had to be restarted as the letter of the law states???? It would literally starve drivers and carriers and force some MAJOR changes to happen very quickly.
Yes, I understand this would often keep the driver in a bad situation or location but we wouldn't have to do it long. Let's see them fire me for "logging it legal" and not being able to make my pre-plan ... virtually every time. (We do a lot of deliveries to grocery warehouses with bizarre late night/early morning appt times, as well as a few shippers with similar hours, that demand we work "off the clock" or risk being very non-productive)gpsman Thanks this. -

Put a sign on the door:
"This driver is currently on a Federally mandated 10 hour break-In the event you need the driver to move his or her vehicle-Come back after the Federally mandated 10 hour break is over-Thanks for your cooperation"TruckDuo and tangerineGT Thank this. -

Don't park where you are not suppose to and you won't get interrupted.
