Didn't get a chance to respond to the trucks blocking you in,

Just a couple of weeks ago i was blocked in on the fuel island by another truck ahead of me in the pay line. They were inside Xmas shopping.

Here is what i wrote to their company.

    To Whom it may concern,
On Saturday appoxmentaly Noon central time, I pulled into the Bosselmans in Grand Island, NE. Truck Stop to fuel. I pulled into the fuel island, behind one of your trucks which had pulled forward into the ‘pay lane’ .
15 minutes later I was done fuel and was going to pull forward , like all Professional Drivers do. However, you truck, number 101 a Red Century Freightliner was still parked there with their 4 way flashers on.

I there fore go in, and ask the fuel desk, if they could page the Waletich driver to please move their truck , so I could leave. This is where things got interesting.

As I was asking the fuel desk to do a page, I look over at the other cashier , and spotted your driver, talking about trying to find a item, they then both walked over into the store section. I then waited for her to return to the fuel desk, and when she did,
I asked in a polite manner and tone of voice, Ah excuse me Driver , can you please move you truck so that I can leave.

The reply I got from your so called Professional Driver, was, I’m shopping, I’ll move when I ###### well ready to move, and with that WALKED back into the store area.
This reply then got the attention of every one around the fuel desk , and they were all but floored. When she said she was SHOPPING.

I then stepped back to collect my thoughts and when she came back a 2nd time
I replied, well you should go park your truck in a parking spot, then come back and shop, because you have blocked me from leaving.
She then screamed DON’T YOU HAVE REVERSE IN THAT TRUCK? GO USE THE ###### REVERSE.
My reply was, I cannot back up, because there is a truck behind me, who had parked at a odd angle that I couldn’t not safely back up.

Well I don’t give a ####, I’ll move when I #### well want to . Don’t tell me what to do, she then launched into a no nonsense triad.
This is when I said, you know , your wearing a company jacket and your really showing how unprofessional you are , your making a ‘fine’ Representative for your company. And with that she says, well your un professional as well . And I’m going to call and complain about you.

Excuse me, all I did was ask you , can you please move your truck. And your saying I’m un professional?
This is when I asked the fuel desk, if I could speak with their manager, and while the cashier was in the office, your driver then walked away.

The Manager, Ann I believe her name was Ann came out and not only did I tell her about this driver who refused to move their truck to the main parking, the cashiers both told her the same thing.
At this time Ann and I both walked the entire building together, and could not locate her. Ten minutes later, we spotted her walking out of the building and back to her truck, where she proceeded to leave, 20-25 minutes after I had first asked her to please move.

In the 9 years I have been a professional driver, this has been the first time something like this has happened to me. I had heard stories, but never expected to have it happen to me.
    With this all said,

This is a Formal complaint about your driver in Truck #101, and with her attitude of un becoming a Professional Driver, as well as the worst person you could have as Representive of Walentich Transportation.

Tell me what would happen, had this happened at a shipper or receiver,, what would the customer think of your driver? Probly would consider dropping you as a option for transportation. At least they would call in and complain about her.

I’ m thinking that a written apology from her is called for. Not only to me, but the staff and Manager at Bosselmans. She was very UN professional, and in today’s world where the public’s perception of the American Trucker , the temper tantrum she had in front of me, 4-5 other drivers, as well as could be heard all over the store, just ruins everything truckers try to do to clean up that perception.
I would hope that some one in your HR., Dept., or someone with in Management will contact me in a timely manner, so we cane discuss this further, and or offer up a written apology from the driver.

Here is the reply i got

Thank you for the info about the unprofessionalism of our driver. This is not what we expect or tolerate. We waited till she was here in person and had her read your email thoroughly. We then explained to her that the pay island is not a parking spot, no matter how short you need to run inside. She gave excuses of an icy parking lot. We explained to her that this is not an excuse and this was being extremely lazy. She now fully understands that this behavior will not be tolerated here at Waletich. There is a written warning in her personnel file now. Thanks again for the information. Again, the majority of our drivers do not act like this and it was completely uncalled for. I will make her apologized to you, if you felt that necessary, but I’m sure from the stern conversation we had with her this will not happen again.

If you need anything else, please let me know.

very cool. while i believe its kind of over the top to expect a driver to park to run in quick (5 minutes for bathroom or quick food stop) rather than use the pay line, id never stay there without being assured that i could be done before the next guy/gal was done fueling, so they could then pull forward as well. ive had similar experiences up to the point where you asked her to move, but never got a response other than a quick apology or at least a quick run out to the truck to move it. ive shopped as well. truck stop with 15 fueling lanes and im the only truck there at 2am? thats when ill just take up a fuel lane (thus no one will come up behind me expecting me to be leaving by the time they are done) and take my time. well done on contacting the company. ill never understand why there are drivers out there with so little regard for anyone but themselves. most of the time it takes so little effort to look out for the other guy. hopefully karma will kick her butt and she will have 2 backing accidents next week. (only wishing minor damage on her...enough to get her fired maybe, but not hurt).

I think the response from her company pointed out to her the error of her ways, hope she got to be more aware of how things work out here.

Some people need to learn lessons more than others.

Great post here! And I think I'll email this company as well. Do you have their email address?
