Part time Hotshot

Hey, guys, new to the forum here. I see that there are a lot of knowledgeable people here and I had some questions about starting hotshot driving. First let me introduce myself.

I'm 27, live in Alabama, and own a landscape service and tree service. I do not currently have a CDL as we have never run any large trucks or equipment. I have been looking into purchasing a truck and 35-40' trailer to haul larger equipment to and from jobsites. The truck and trailer would primarily be used during the summer months and sit much of the time during the winter. I am exploring the possibility of using it part time for hotshot loads while not in use elsewhere. I have always enjoyed traveling just never been paid to drive. I know a gentleman who owns a trucking company and has offered to let me sub for him while I get established. Any input would be appreciated.
