I don’t need some guy showing up in my yard while I’m in the middle of doing whatever to try and sell me something. Especially to try and convince me I need his service and I only have a limited time to file a claim. If I need/want your services I will call you. Otherwise get off my lawn you’re disturbing me.

High Stepper and Oxbow Thank this.

You might do ok with this new job adventure. Or you might lose your $&@. I think I’d stick with trucking. If you’re sick of the oilfield bs I get that but there is many other options in DFW.

You're not alone in that thinking. Commission based pay is highly intimidating for most people. I remember years ago when my mother took a sales job. Even though she was out earning my father by a significant amount he couldn't stand it. He could not feel any sense of security unless he knew exactly how much was coming in and when. He couldn't stand the idea of anything that isn't a guaranteed paycheck. So even though she was making more money than him he couldn't stand it. I'm guessing you're like my father.

I hope it works out for you. I’ve got a buddy that sells cars at Lexus in Grapevine. Makes $150K doing that.

I know people doing that as well. Meanwhile nobody outside of that one really successful and well connected independent O/O running highly specialized freight is earning anywhere close to that driving truck.

Here’s an idea for part time. Bancroft and sons in Grand Prairie hauling mail. I did a Saturday run for them over the holidays years ago. Good equipment and pretty decent money. They do a lot of teams but have solo too. I would run from GP up to Big Cabin Ok, drop and hook with another driver. Paid about $350 for 9 hrs of work.

I don't care about cameras in a day cab. They can watch me drive around making deliveries all they want. It's cameras in a sleeper that I hate. It's just creepy having your employer put a camera in your bedroom
