Is it possible for a recent CDL school graduate with all endorsements to find part time work? I'm located in Columbus, GA. and I am having a hard time finding work. Any advice would be appreciated.
It's difficult to find any local work with zero experience because the insurance cost is very high to the employer to hire you. Most bite the bullet and go OTR for a mega to get their time in and then try local. Maybe try calling some of the food service places in your town or try to do class b somewhere that has tractors to move into as you build experience behind the wheel.
you may have to start on a loading dock, at say an LTL company. that way, they can work you into a pick up or delivery. from there, you can inquire about part time, for the hours of day or night that you need. as a no experienced driver, you cannot really dictate now what you want.
Are you looking on Craigslist and Indeed.com? Don't be discouraged by every ad saying they "PREFER X years experience" or even "X years experience required". Fill out an application and then call the company after a few days and ask if anyone has been able to review your application. If that doesn't work expand your search to nearby areas. Understand, ALL of your work hours, not just the work hours you spend working as a truck driver count toward your 70 hours per 8 day limit. If you worked 40 hours per week as a waiter or cashier or juggler, those 40 hours count toward your 70 hour limit. If you are working you cannot LEGALLY drive after you have WORKED 70 hours in the last 8 days.
