The PTL recruiter was the most honest one as far as I could remember. He said simply "He could guarantee that there are no guarantees in truck driving".

Seems odd...the company fired a new hire one week after getting into a truck because of a breakdown....Unless there is more to the story, if not then I would say this is definitely a bad company and would have a hard time keeping any drivers.
SOLID C0LD Thanks this. -
You were fired because their truck broke down? I'm interested to know how that's possible?
SOLID C0LD Thanks this. -
Sounds like he was ready to quite so they beat him to the punch

those exact reasons are exactly why i'll only work local, even if it's a dock. like the saying goes, u aint earning unless the wheels are turning. if i was to go OTR, i'd try one with good rep like Mav or Averitt, unless i had no choice to go with Swift or one that will train as if u had no experience. @ least u tried
wish both of u could've talked to the girl recruiter i spoke to. she sounded so innocent i almost went..
the like is only for the advice
- good one

My orientation elsewhere started with about 20 people. 6 were left, the rest all flunked drug screens or physicals. A couple had lied about criminal history as well.

maybe they can change the stips & have all that done before getting a cdl?

I just started with PTL not that long ago, about 3 weeks. The only reason I went to PTL was because my past held me back from a few other places. But I can say my experience at PTL has been pretty pleasant. My first week I drove 4,000 miles with my trainer an did about that the next 2 weeks. They only wanted 5,000 miles for the training to be done with but I told my trainer I wanted more because I'm a new driver. Only problem I had with them was when I got stuck ina hotel 6 in Texas while the truck was in the freightliner dealership. I'm currently on my way back home for a week before I start doing team driving for 40,000 miles.

PTL allows you to drive the truck cost free, avg miles 2700, stay out long as you want, can clear 1k a week but usually 850, 900$, you never hear from them unless you make the call, loads after loads, pretty much you're on your own, and keeping truck watch over, keeps you making money, the only hassles you get from them is the one you started in the first place
P.S. any problem like a flat or something else they took care of it, been with them 1+ yrs, 5 flats 1 overheating and they gave me another truck, so far no truck issues.
Stock option, fully vested 5 yrs, gradual vested % first 4, so that extra 7cents you get on average with other trk co. now, plus the micro managing of your LIFE with them, must be weighed, freedom with PTL or someone on your ###
Apu, epu, inverter, new trucks have frigerator, you can subscribe to Sirius radio, you can buy a portable sattelite system put a TV in.
If you have to start fresh, mind as well start stress free, you catch your stress out on the road, if you let it get to you.Last edited by a moderator: Dec 7, 2016
