Good thought. Didn’t think of brake cleaner. Thanks

That's the main problem with all those ground effects. Makes it #### near impossible to get under your truck for a good look. I used to open up old cardboard boxes and lay them on the ground to get under my truck. Now I have one of those things with rollers that mechanics use. I also took off all the ground effects crap to get better ground clearance. Now I have several points of entry to get under and really inspect and work pretty much anywhere.

Edited to add: I don't advise removing ground effects if you don't own the truck or if you run to Commiefornia.

For me it’s just a combination of the frame being low and me being 6’5” 300 lbs

    There is THAT...

... keep a can of brake cleaner in your side box. Any time you see a potential leak, clean it off and monitor it closely during your pretrip, in trip, and post trip inspections.

    WesternPlains and Jwhis Thank this.

When I did my pretrips I would set my lights, get a good flashlight day or night then push in my trailer brakes and go take a walk. Listening for air leaks, looking at my tires and lights. Then I would look under my trailer using my flashlight for fluid leaks. Then got inside pull the trailer brake knob and push the main brakes in and repeat the inspection on the tractor. Took about 10 minutes to do right. You can hear air if it is bad even with trucks running next to you.

We have pouches in our permit books in all of the trucks that have a good selection of fuses. And I always carried extra bulbs. Cya.

I’ve been getting nothing but “truck bypass” lights at weigh stations. Never got them before.

Do the states/DOT share info? I really like the bypass lights. I feel special.

If you pull for a motor carrier with a good record of inspections, they aren't interested. If you pull for a motor carrier that racks up violations, they are interested...

    ... VERY interested.

    Count yourself blessed.
