Some say there are no stupid questions but i feel like this one is in between or sorta common sense so....
I wanted to ask advice on a scenario. Say you've taken your hazmat test (and tankers) and passed. You've also went through the screening process and got approved and recieved the letter stating you are clear and all licensing agencies have been notified and you have that letter with you on the truck. Now the only thing you have to do is wait for home time in your home state for the endorsement to be stamped/printed on your CDL.
    Heres the question...
You are dispatched a hazmat load. Do you take it? Or wait until you get home and get the endorsement printed on your license?
Also i notice all placard vehicles most times always have to pull in weigh stations. Do they make hazmat drivers come in and show paperwork and i.d every time? And also inspect the vehicle every time?

I think it would be best to wait until your license gets updated. Or you could be in a world of hurt.

I wouldn't chance it...I run hazmat in dry van's all the time crossing the scales. They don't usually pull us inside, but it's more likely with a placarded vehicle. It's like a red flag for LEO's that can draw more attention.

    Greetings....
You should wait to have your Endorsement added to your License. Hazmat Placards Not always get pulled into Scales...especially if you have a "Pre Pass".
    Happy Trails......!!

I doubt the hazmat endorsement will be applied to the database until you go in to complete the process (actually receive your new and updated license) and even then may take a few weeks. A cop in the field will want to see this endorsement on your physical license.

Call the DMV or whatever, drivers licence division, for your state and ask them if the endorsement is current with your license number.

When a leo runs your licence number it will show up even if it's not on your hard copy, yet.

I would take it, but I would call the licence division to make sure it's really there first.

I would not take it until the license is updated with that stamp.

It only takes one tin horn to start writing tickets that can put you into a world of hurt.

I've had shippers ask to see the endorsement ,before loading Haz-Mat.

    it was some nasty stuff.

As for being pulled in to every scale with a placarded load, Not in my experiences I pull tanker and most times being placarded and most always get a green light. I run the upper midwest great lakes area.
