Maybe you've been driving rigs a long time but it actually feels like a steering wheel on a house for someone who's never driven something that big before.

Some of the best advice I got when I started trucking was to close my mouth and open my ears anytime someone more experienced than me started talking.

Now that the easy part is over its time to really learn. Its a bit like getting married you think you know what your wife/ husband is really like but boy are you in for one great big surprise. Tip : if you've been driving 4 wheeler's all your life learn to take those corners with a bit more width.

Congrats on getting your cdl. Was your two hours of driving in town? If so, you have dealt with many of the hazards of driving in a city and you may have 80 miles of driving experience. I had about 500 miles driving experience at my school.......but you will likely get 1,000 miles a week, so you will build your experience quickly.

After you drive a 1,000 miles and you get out of the truck and into your personal car, you will feel amazed as to how small your car is. Your brain will adapt to driving the larger vehicle rather quickly.

I had some sort of mechanical issue every week I went out....so you will have some frustrations with equipment, but you will learn more and more every week.

Finding a place to park overnight is a challenge too.
Being on roads and turns you have never been on before may cause you some stress.....as you may end up on a wrong route that you need to find your way out of - I hated getting lost, but had to deal with it.

My first job I pulled a smooth bore tanker....after a week I felt pretty comfortable with the truck.

    You will do fine.

Thanks for that! My road time was in Linden NJ kinda like NYC so in terms of miles it's low but chock full of city hazards lol!
