Took the DMV test today at -9 degrees and had a shortened version of the pre-trip because of the cold weather! Did the yard ops and only goofed up on the alley dock. I did my "free" pull up then after I had backed up and stopped, I could not quite see where the back of the trailer was. I had a choice, leave it and take a chance I am in the right spot, or pull up and lose a point. I took the chance, and lost a point for being a little short.
Around the yard driving I did well other than getting the tractor stuck. It was the uphill parking - on ice. I told the examiner I needed to back up, set the flashers, and backed up a little. Then I was fine. The course was plowed and salted but still slippery in spots.
On the road I got nailed a little for missing a gear and some grinding, and he caught me with one hand on the steering wheel and one on the shifter for an extended period of time. It's an old habit of mine. I have bad habits I have to break. Upside is he said my turns were perfect.
I passed though and I am glad I can put that behind me! I can start orientation now, and driving in January.
Passed the DMV and picked up the CDL today!

I'm going with Roehl. My pre-hires were Roehl, Swift and Werner. I chose Roehl because of the pay, home time and other factors. For some reason they seemed like the right fit to me.
I am having some problems right now with the DOT long form at Roehl but it should be resolved this week. I was cleared by the DOT Physician, but Roehl has question about it. So I have to get my doctor to sign off that I am OK. -
congrats on passing and good luck at Roehl
