Wow, after reading through all of the material in the CDL handbook, I was for sure that my brain was going to explode for the test! Tons of numbers to associate with words and such! Tanker was the easiest out of the two don't get me wrong but then HazMat is quite easier. I read through the CDL manual first 2x times then I took the practice test. I thought that because some of the tests are state specific that I would have to remember such...no its not like that. I surrounded myself with 3 practice tests. The one on here, iPhone app, and audiobook from audible (free). Although the test was easy, there's still a lot to learn because its easy to read something but when it comes to real world, you may forget about it! Thanks to this site I passed! Word to advice to anyone wondering if they wanted to get HazMat or not? I ask why not? The company you're working for will most likely refund your money. I decided not to do doubles or triples because that looks like a dang train CHOO CHOO! LOL! Best of luck to everyone! I'm glad I'm done with the paper test crap!

Good job. NOw go back and get dbls/trpls. Even if you never use it you should have all endorsements you can get. And they are actually much easier to drive than a 53/57' single. Just a little squirrely in the wind.

I saw on the road recently someone driving doubles, to me it looked like it was a trailer split in half into separate trailers. But what disturbed me was I saw the last trailer moving side to side, I kept my distance from him because I didn't know if he was going to jack it or not.

:biggrin_25514: Congratulations driver. Don't sell yourself short. If Hazmat was easy, we would all have one. You should be proud knowing that you passed the hardest written test they could throw at ya! Concrats again. p.s. I used to run the crane that set the cubes that were made in Sanford Fl. Aka, Knights Inn Motels. From North Cacalacky to Miami. 3 years living out of hotels and hanging with the "Sanford Crew". Small World.

In Illinois, it is cheaper to get all endorsements with the original license. After that it costs more to test... from what I remember.

They can get to swinging. Heavier trailer should always be up front if you have one. Most of the newer ones track pretty well. And there are a lot of good jobs where you can be home if that's what you want. Many go half way to destination and swap out with another driver and head back home. And many states allow triples. I have never pulled those but seen lots in OK, CO etc.
