Hey @Farva I'm in Houston finishing up my cdl classes. TMC has already called me wanting me to do an app. I'm definitely interested. I just wanted your opinion or anyone else's for that matter. I see your a runner. While I dont mind staying out 1 or 2 weekends a month I know I wont do it every weekend... kids, the old lady, dog you know the usual. But wanted to know: 1. Can I get good freight coming out of Texas to start my week off right while not being limited to only texas? 2. Working this kind of schedule i mentioned trying to maximize park up time, points etc what can I realistically expect to take home? 1000? 900? (mpg might be my only downfall because i will idle in heat 100%.) 3. Any particular areas I can request to be or work from my FM to maximize pay per load or freight? Thanks. Enjoyed the read. Keep up the good work.
From my limited exp w/ Texas, it's hard to get good freight out of, but then it could be dependent upon which part of Tx is home for you. I've made good deliveries INTO Tx...but usually have to get east or SE of DFW to get insulation and the eff back out. As for telling your FM where you'd like to run to maximize your rev...well, again, in my limited EXP your FM isn't going to care what you want in terms of rev if you need to be home on the weekends. Their standard line will be "We need x,y,z load(s) covered" which makes TMC THEIR 25% (rev margin) without regard to what you're trying to make. Again, take that with a grain of salt as your mileage may vary (as the old saying goes).
Well looks like I got done thinking to do. TMC definitely still in the running. I like what I've seen so far. Hopefully pulling two stay outside a month will put me in their good graces for good paying loads. Would hope coming out if Houston I can hert some decent loads but we'll see. Thanks.
I have no knowledge of TMC beyond what I read here and see on the roads. They seem like a good place to start
Yeah that's the impression I get. Submitted my app today. We will see what happens. I feel pretty confident it will turn out to be a good place to start.
I've looked at them and liked what they had to offer. Looks like they are only cpm pay from what I gather. I am somewhat on the tmc "bandwagon" right now. But may submit an app to them as well just as a second choice.
I'm happy that I went w/ TMC from the start, but I may be biased. Having been issued a 2020 0 Mile Pete w/ no cams and making the money I've been able to make SHOULD make one feel pretty #### lucky, as it could have gone a different direction entirely. So I do feel very fortunate. edit: Add to that I got lucky with a VERY knowledgable and squared away trainer.
Well I sent my app in so fast so good my recruiter told me. Only thing they need it's a copy if an accident report from earlier this year, 1st one in 5 years. But a driver ran a light and i avoided him but hit a curb and the corner of a wall. Didn't hit any other vehicles or people but the driver ran off. I was not ticketed so I'm going that won't count against me getting hired on.
