Guys, my truck is turned in and I start a local, hourly, bulk milk hauling gig in a few weeks.
So this will be my last update for this thread.
Hell of a rookie year.
Passed TMC's 3-week CDL orient, today I head out for OTR training

Just an update, I left TMC back in December for local work as well. Good times with the Black and Chrome.

Any advantage living only 15 minutes from TMC to consider them as an option. New driver no miles have CDL A. Thanks!

Which terminal?
If it's Des Moines or Brownsburg, having the ability to park your truck each weekend at the terminal and get a truck wash every Sunday before heading out for the week would be an advantage, IMO. -
Thanks. Des Moines other than that no advantage like home time being extended ?

Possibly due to so many Menards in the area (Shingles from Minn., MN) and so much construction in the Altoona area (steel from Norfolk, NE), it's possible, but I wouldn't count on it to be a common thing.Speed_Drums and IowaWest Thank this.

I got question an sure it's been answered several times. I'm a probably soon to a laid off coal miner. Just couple hours south of brownsburg my question is would be hard to bring home at least $1000 every week while going home on weekends

Home time costs money and trucking is feast and famine.
We are in a situation in which its a form of warfare to keep America supplied. While other sectors like oil is collasping. Problems increase when businesses across the board go out of existance in a month or two along with a restless people who have no money at 30% and higher unemployment with increased deathrates to come.
Warehouses ship food west to east across the USA, its a hard thing to get truckloads here in the south after the west has gotten most of the food. Whats left going east isnt very much. So they are crying for trucks.
In some cases you run until you pass out, sleep and run some more without regard to hours. So its a form of battle. No home time now. Not for that.ChevyCam Thanks this. -
Do you have ANY previous flatbed experience? You will have to run hard to NET 1 grand after taxes, health insurance etc and still be home for a 48 hour week end. TMC's structure is very simple, you leave early Sunday am to park at consignee for your Monday drop. You deliver 5 loads per week and pick up a load before you head home. A weekend is 34 hours nothing more. If that sounds good to you then head over to the Brownsburg Terminal and talk to a recruiter or a couple of drivers. Good luck.
