Because company drivers totally get prepass documentation.
I bet you pull into closed stations when you get the red light.

What do you do when the prepass says stop and they have barricades up on the ramp. Run over them?
Blackshack46 and INF3RNAL Thank this. -
Red light on Pre-Pass, or no light on pre-pass...means to stop at the scale...UNLESS THE SCALE IS CLOSED
How can this not be understood? If the roadside sign says to bypass or closed...there is no reason to stop, no matter what the PP unit is displaying. keep in mind the scale officer controls the PP system at that particular scale...they might forget to turn the sending unit off.
In CA...the roadside signs all say: ALL TRUCKS STOP AT SCALES...but if you get a green on your PP, you continue on. -
You just contradicted yourself. If scale is open, you get red light on prepass, but roadside sign says bypass, you're clueless (given your guidelines).

Which is it, boss? -
If prepass goes green... it doesn't matter whether the scale is open, says go in or what - you are then justified in bypassing the scale. -
That's not what he said.
What if the prepass is red, the barricades are up, the scale is open, the roadside says come in, and I'm hungry? I gotta eat.
Besides, you can argue all day, me and the other guy are probably going to continue doing it our way, and we're likely not the only ones. -
But with your vast amount of experience you know the ropes altogether!
Let me help you comprehend the OBVIOUS:
1. There have been many times I have approached a scale getting a red indicator on my PP...but the scale is closed...why would I pull in if the scale is inactive?
2. Same applies with no indication on the PP, and the scale is closed...not pulling into the scale with this one either!
3. Roadside sign says scales open, ALL TRUCKS ENTER SCALES,...but my PP says to go (green light on unit)...again I am going by without stopping!
3a. Scale open, red light or no light...THE ONLY TIME I AM STOPPING AT THE SCALE!
4. In Washington, (they don't use PP, they use NORPASS)...I get red light on PP in cab, but the 3 signs approaching the scale to BYPASS...I am going right on by, even with my red light blinking!
5. A scale can be closed, yet the PP in the scale was left in the ON position, and whatever parameters for red lighting the trucks are set at...(weight, speed through receiving units, all trucks) the indicator unit in the cab will go red...the scale operator didn't turn the sending unit off when he/she left the building. I'm not stopping!
I don't participate on other forums...but here on TTR...we tend not to accuse another poster of being CLUELESS, when they have shown and have posted hundreds, if not thousands of posts in regard to regulations with knowledge (not necessarily expertise), but knowledge of the subject, and are generally correct in their understanding and application of the rules and tools in this industry.
Next time...read it a bit slower so the thought can sink in!
BTW...there was no contradiction in my original statement...just obvious miscomprehended material by another poster!!bobobrazil and kd5icr Thank this. -
OK...you got me I am clueless...as far as your thought pattern is concerned! -
I clearly said that 1. given your guidelines and 2. in the given situation that you were clueless, as in didn't know what to do. Nowhere did I say you were clueless about rules and/or tools.
Of course you resort to the default, "I have more experience than you, how dare you correct me," defense. I love it.
Let's go over what you said again.
First, you said that red light or no light means stop at scale, the only exception being if it's closed.
You went on to say that if the roadside sign says to bypass, then it doesn't matter what the prepass says.
So you come up to a scale. Open. Sign says bypass. Prepass is red.
Rule one says "red light means pull in UNLESS scale is closed."
Scale is not closed, so you must pull in.
But, wait!
Rule two says "regardless of prepass, if sign says bypass then you bypass."
Well, the sign says bypass, so of you go.
Your criteria leaves you with two options, thus a contradiction. You either always pull in on red (unless closed) or you don't.
It really was something simple but I guess you don't take criticism very well. -
I agree 100%, if the sign says closed, cruise on byotherhalftw Thanks this.
