    My buddy tested in my truck to get his cdl with auto .has a class now ,only auto drive .

    I can't honestly understand the reasoning behind the Automatic restriction....if you cant drive a manual no one is going to hire you anyways...and if your gonna be that much worse of a driver in a manual that you wouldn't have passed the test, they shouldn't have given you a class A in the first place.

    Besides that I don't really think an on road driving test even comes close to simulating a real days worth of driving.

    I never saw this thread until now.

    I know many people here in Illinois with a Class A who tested in an automatic dump truck with air brakes and a trailer with electric brakes connected with a pintle hook and have no restrictions.
