Any ppl here living in Canada that are originally from the USA? .... or just using a Canadian address.
If you can/do swap out CDL from one country to the other, does your driving record follow you?
How about insurance? For instance, if you're having trouble getting a driving job in USA due to an accident that would put high insurance premiums on you, would obtaining a Canadian passport or duel citizenship & getting a CDL in Canada make it possible for a Canadian company to higher you w/o having to pay high insurance premiums?
Anyone have any experience or insight on how to play this little game? Thanx

You have to have applied for PR status to get a Canadian license. Your American record will follow you as you have to show that as proof of how long you have been driving to change over your license. I use a Canadian as well as US address but have a US cdl.
To obtain dual you have to be born into that or have pr for five years and then apply for citizenship. -
Looking at his post I don't think I want him driving up here.
Patricksgirl and hillbilly_trucker Thank this. -

I'm CDN, living as perm resident in USA. I Live & Work in USA... and I drive to Canada 2-3x/week. But I can't answer your questions.
All I can tell you is.. I don't think your record follows you. At least, my MVD record didn't from Canada to the USA. I started in the USA like I hadn't driven before. I assume its the same in reverse. Even for trucking. That means = no experience, good or bad.
